New TV advice
English

I'm looking to replace my (excellent) 8 year old 26" Panasonic LCD TV with something bigger, probably 40-42" (but maybe 46/7 at a push). Most of the time I'll be using it with Sky HD, so not bothered about freeview/sat tuners, I just want a really high quality picture.

I was planning to go for the 2013 Award Winner, Panasonic TX-P42GT60B, but this seems to be impossible to get hold of now they've stopped making them. There are some very good Samsungs (UE40ES7/8000 and F7/8000), but the screen looks a bit glossy to me. There's a new line-up of Panasonics, which should be good, but don't seem to be any reviews out there yet. What do people recommend?

Cheers,

Steve

RE: New TV advice

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum

Based purely on reviews, I haven't actually seen them, which by the way I would recommend before purchasing, I would certainly have these on my to look at list

same tv, just different size.

you also have this years sony's

appreciate you don't want a 50" but the review should still stand for the smaller versions

for the sake of not seeming bias and not recommending a panasonic I haven't seen any reviews either

happy hunting

Rocket

Thanks for all the info. After much research (and a trip to Tottenham Court Road to see them in the flesh), I went with a Samsung UE46F8500 - didn't want a curved screen (in the new 8000) and the new 7000 doesn't have great reviews. A friend of mine bought the ue48h6400 following your suggestion - looked very nice showing the football yesterday!
