Thanks for your help guys, i will get a few quotes.

No probs, doing it all AV is quite handy because you can just message them.  Remember to ask for a discount.

Vincent teoh from HDTV test. First calibration was someone from avforums and I wasn't happy with end result on either day or night.

Blimey that must have cost you!  How much did you pay for each?  I got mine for £185 and a THX ornament included.

£250 first time but got this refunded. Second time cost me £200 including travel costs and I must say I'm well happy with the end result..

   What was different about the second time?

RE: My Panasonic 50VT65 THX Calibrated

First calibration was to gamma 2.2. The picture was all washed out and skin tones were yellow and it looked terrible.

The second time was calibrated to 2.4 and that other standard BT.1886 ellisdj always recommends. There is significant difference with the picture with more pop, colour and the greyscale with more detail in the blacks. The skin tones are more real and there is no sign of that dreadful yellow tint from the first time.

When I compare with the normal and cinema modes there is a massive improvement of the above in my isf modes.

highly recomend getting it done!

Living room: Panasonic TX-P50VT65B (calibrated), Sky HD 1TB, Denon 3313UD, Denon 2113 AVR, Focal Chorus 716 5.1 speakers, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, Harmony Touch

Bedroom: Panasonic TH-46PZ85B plasma, Sky HD, Cambridge Audio DVD 57.

For the end user (us), there isn't much difference. Check these links:

The only distinction is that the calibrator is either THX or ISF accredited.

In other words, it's simply a matter of which organisation trained the calibrator.

Accreditation aside, there's no difference whatsoever, since both THX and ISF engineers calibrate to the same (Rec.709) standard.

I think my TV is switching between day and night settings automatically at night time!  Is that possible?

Don't worry Gel, that can't happen.

Maybe variations in content have given that impression, but the settings will be locked into each Professional picture mode.
