Looking for 40" 1080p TV for around £500
Evening all..
Hopefully a nice simple request, I'm looking to replace my trusty Sony TV and am looking for nothing more than a 40" 1080p 2D TV for around £500. Sound quality isn't an issue for me and I'm not overly fussed with it being a 2012/new model, so any suggestions or pointers to any great deals would be very much appreciated

I just picked a Toshiba 46TL933G just about 430 Pounds (via Amazon.de in Germany). Nothing to complain about - great picture and performance at that price!
Many thanks indeed for the suggestions, off to see what I can find on these sets... I'm def not fussed with it being a 3D set and having any smart capability is more of a "nice to have" rather than a necessity... all I really need it for SkyHD and BlueRay playback.

Are you at all bothered about smart TV? Samsung's 40ES5500 or an LG 42LS570T are pretty nice sets, I'd personally swing toward the samsung. Just personal preference. I'd also say don't not get something just because it's 3D.
A lot of people come into our store thinking it's a waste of money buying a 3D set as they aren't going to use it. But in the search for a good 2D set, you may end up with a 3D one, admittedly unlikely around the £500 mark, but you may stumble across a bargain.
