Can't find one that would be suitable, unless I paid about £1000 for a HiFi racks one. Smile

Excellent, if it actually lives that long. I'm more concerned about IR etc. noted on the 77-inch panel.

I have a couple of questions,
1) Are LG making much of a profit producing OLED tvs
2) when they make a batch of tvs are LG throwing many away.

1) As OLED is a new technology, it'll take LG 2-3 years at least to break even before making profits.

2) As per gel's HDTV Test link:

"According to LG, the yield has now exceeded 80%, gradually closing in on the 98% achieved by typical LCD-making facilities."

RE: LG launches world's first curved 4K OLED TV

If someone can explain to me the benefit of such a small screen being curved...

Quote:
PERFECT VIEWING ANGLE

The most consistent picture from virtually any angle

Enjoy the widest viewing angles with no loss of contrast or distortion of colour with LG OLED TV, the perfect display all-round.

A bold claim.

If you're sitting a foot outside of the left edge of the screen, how is the far left of the screen 'undistorted'? As it curves in, no matter how subtle, objects moving towards that left edge will begin to distort. For me, that curved screen will only benefit someone sitting dead central, and even then they'd need to be sitting at the centre of the curvature.

RE: LG launches world's first curved 4K OLED TV

At the TV shootout last month, LG 55-inch OLED's curve didn't bother us, and we didn't notice any distortion. You're right in saying that a curve in such a small screen is pointless. LG themselves have said that their main focus is 65-inch screens, but obviously they have to make a 55-inch version for gel! Biggrin
