hello,

my question seems a little basic for you guys but anyway i have a pioneer pdp 4270xd hd ready plasma and want to purchase a pioneer blue ray for it ! was thinking of the bdp320 or an lx71 ! any thoughts ?have read about problems with compatibility to an hd ready tv as opposed to full hd.

also can you connect this direct to the screen or do you require one of these amps or recievers i have seen you guys talking about ?

Yes, it will work fine. The player and TV will rescale the picture to suit the screen. You'll be getting 720p or 1080i resolution rather than the full 1080p Blu-ray can deliver, but it'll still look better than standard DVD. And yes, the sound will be sent over the HDMI link with the picture, and come out of the TV's speakers.

Not really relevant at your level of equipment. Look at Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Cambridge Audio etc. & choose the model which your budget is most comfortable with.

Of the two you mention I'd go for the 320, but an entry-level Sony or Panasonic would be just as good.
