best 50" + tv for sky hd

Hi,i just got rid of panasonic TX50VT20B which did not perform very well with my sky hd box,it had various faults or digital noise compared with my older pioneer pdp 436xde which i have still got.

I don't know if full hd is a must because sky's hd channels are not full 1080p  & i do not watch many blue ray dvds.

I would like to hope i could get hold of a good second hand pioneer kkp 500a or pdp lx5090 & that either one would perform well with sky tv?

If i consider the current new tv's on the market i do not want another panasonic & i would rather wait till 3d tv needs no glasses before i consider that as an option,i am not bothered about sound quality as i am running 7.1 through av amp & do not need to connect tothe internet at this stage.

sky hd amstrad drx890, yamaha dsp-ax757se, sony bdp-s350,  acoustic energy aelit 3/1/centre & sub 7.1 with chord company & qed cables.
