Hi All,

This is my first post so I'm very sorry if I have it in the wrong catagory.

I've currently done about 2 months searching for the best LCD TV for around £450. I'm after a 37" (no bigger, no smaller). I would like full HD but could live without it. I need HDMi ports for DVD player, Xbox and surround sound.

I've come so close on several occasions to parting with my hard earned money to read a review saying "average at best". I muct have looked at every Samsung, LG and Toshiba on the market and I have to say there is not much in it as far as I am concerned. Having spoken to several people we all seem to agree you don't get that "WOW" factor from Sony anymore.

So...having spent much time in Richer Sounds and not getting very far I would like to put the question out to the general public.

Is there a kick ass 37" HD LCD TV out there for £450???

Short answer NO. not at that price.

Here's a list

Under £450, maybe the 37LG3000 is the the better of the bunch.

Thanks! I thought I would be struggling.

I got a guy down to £480 for the 37LG5000. Is that any good?

May have to go a little higher then.

What's the Toshiba 37CV505D like? The guy in Richer Sounds seemed intent to sell me one.

If you could just stretch it that big further (surely it's worth some short-term sacrifice for long-term viewing pleasure?) you could bag a Panasonic TH37PX80 - probably the biggest bargain in TV today: a 37in plasma that's a superb all-rounder.

Ignore the £800 we tested it at - you can get one for £550 if you shop around, and you won't regret it! (Just remember to come back when you've bought your set and follow our step-by-step advice on how to get the best picture).
