" Help" Panasonic.Sony
Need help with a choice and i will respect everybodys opinion, cant make my mind up over the 2 T.Vs Panasonic Tx-P42X10B plasma or the new Sony Kdl- 37V5500 LCD i mainly like to watch all sorts of sports, i like the panny but it just puts me off a little with not being FHD and the Sony is,any help would be more than welcome.
Cheers
Dont fancy waiting a month or two alredy been without a T.V. for 2 weeks but thanks for reply, i dont think the pana 46 would be suitable because my lounge is not extra big about average size, dont want to go any larger than a 42ins
Cheers
Dont fancy going a couple months already been without a tv for 2 weeks, also i think a 46ins would br two large for my lounge.
Cheers
If you watch a lot of sports I'd be tempted to go for the 37W5500 rather than the V. The 100Hz Motionflow feature would, I feel, be very useful to you and the price difference is very small. I've seen a 40W5500 now and its an excellent set.
why dont you go go for a panasonic th42pz80 ?? , thats full hd , 100htrz , and i think you should be able to get one for about £700 , they are also very good with standard def ....
or check this out http://www.ciao.co.uk/click.php/c2pid/7830513 , amazing black levels , as good as a pioneer kuro apparently , and 100 hrtz , ive seen it and its got a beautiful picture .....
I have gone with the Panasonic TX-P42X10B dont know whether i have made the right choice i was a little undecided because its not FHD but i have been assured it gives top quality images and if thats the case that will suit me as i am a sports freak.
I am sure i got a good deal on it at £668 including delivery and free 3 years insurance so we will see whats like after tomorrow.
Cheers
Many thanks for all your posts and help.
Let us know how you get on.

relax what hifi just gave it 5 stars.....i have both a sony 40w4000 1080p lcd and an el cheapo 768 sonique brand 768 plasma..The lesser plasma is perfectly watchable both on free to air and dvd/blueray...(sonique internal speakers are rubbish though and i carn't get the pre-outs to work)
Got the panasonic P42x10B up and running not convinced yet that the plasmas are better than the LCDs in viewing mode there is 4 options Cinema,Game,Normal, Dynamic the normal mode seems to dark to me but if you change to dynamic/cinema they both up the contrast.I am quite happy with the sound and it is a beautiful looking tv with its piano black bezel all in all for the price it seems good value for money but as i said before i am not convinced yet that plasma is in front of Lcd at the moment.

hi shimsham , i felt the same when i got my plasma home , i have it about a month now , ( also panasonic ) , but now im very happy with it , i think that after viewing tvs in the shops , under bright lit conditions , ( which suit lcds and not plasmas ) and where all the tvs contrast and backlights are set too high , its easy to come home and think your set doesnt look so good in comparison , i put on planet earth on blueray straight away once my set was home and initially wasnt impressed , but after tinkering with the settings i started to appreciate how clear and natural the picture was , when watching movies ( like no country for old men ) i was really impressed , then i went to a friends house to watch the same movie on a sony 46v4000 and the picture looked far to bright for me , with not as much depth , and i knew i had made the right choice , i use cinema mode , warm , with the sharpness turned up a little bit for sd and left as is for hd , night time viewing with the lights off the picture is lovely , daytime i sometimes use the normal setting if its a bright day , maybe try these settings and see what u think , i wouldnt judge the set to soon , if you still feel the same in a few weeks then maybe lcd is for you , it is all about what you like i guess .....
Hi.Maxxflinn Thanks for that, last night i ran the set on cinema mode seems just about right on the Sky programms seem but when i go dvb mode for freeview channels some of the programms seen a bit iffy with very poor clarity i have tried adjusting the sharpness and colour/contrast but that does seem to make any improvment.I will see how it goes for a couple of weeks it might just grow on me our lounge is not the biggest you will come across i think its about 15ft x 12ft and i was a little apprehensive that a 42 ins might be a little to big but as all good retailers will tell you that it will be just fine.
Cheers

You will most probably find that these picture short comings on Freeview are more to do with th actual quailty of the broadcast rather that issues with your set as in my experience not all transmission are of equal quality.

Why not wait a month or two for panasonic to bring out new tv's that are full HD.
