I currently have a Pro-Ject Xpression MKIII with Ortofon Red 2M. I have recently gone through a complete upgrade and the TT doesn't seem so dynamic as the rest of the system

I have seen a Pro-Ject RPM5 complete with Xpack and Ortofon Red 2M for £375.00 and Pro-Ject Xperience Xpack without cartridge for £349 both in excellent condition.

Has anybody got experince of either of these and would it be worth upgrading to one of these?

Thanks

Re: Which Pro-Ject TT?

Well they're both a big step up from the Xpression. The XPerience is the better deck (and much better value of those two deals), but I prefer the aesthetics of the RPM5 (if only they did it in acrylic...). In both cases, however, I think the XPack addition of the speedbox under the plinth makes them look a bit rubbish and would rather have the vanilla decks and add the separate speed box myself.

Also sounds like the 300-quid Rondo Red that came with the Xperience XPack has been stripped off it...

Lacks dynamics?

Sytemdek IIX 900 with new RB251 arm and Goldring 1012X + new armboard

£280 + £14 P&P ('Buy it now'' price.)

(And the sellers - Inspire Hifi - actually build their own turntables.)

I don't like the look of that Systemdek I'm afraid.

Yes, John the previous owner kept the Rondo Red.

Or would it be better waiting until I can afford it and going for a Clear Audio Emotion or Michell Gyrodec SE?
