Just got the new Codeine vinyl box set on the Sub Pop imprint Numero Uno.  Amazing quality.  Played the White Birch album and it sounds superb.  Heavyweight vinyl and all three albums come with bonus tracks and are housed in really thick gatefold card sleeves with a cd of each album included.  For fans of Low, Mogwai, etc.

Very tempting!! If new vinyl, your opinion would be good here...

So how does Motorhead sound the morning after the bottle of Merlot ? I have three out of the five of your selection , so good choices .

Sad <a href="http://media.photobucket.com/image/the strokes is this it/chekardo/strokes.jpg?o=30" target="_blank"><img src="http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z18/chekardo/strokes.jpg" border="0"></a>

This may or may not have worked..! If it has it is Is This It by the Strokes, I cant think of a better strokes album in the last few years.

I am Paul, first post, hope it works.. I thought I would do an intro to myself here as this is the thread I look at mostly.

I have an aging Pro-Ject debut II which gets worked hard!

Will get a few more purchases up here.

The recording of this album is good, but being a music on vinyl album, means that the packaging is a bit mean (I like nothing better than a sing along to the lyric sheet or just staring at a decent gatefold album coverparty time!

Beth Jeans Houghton and the hooves of destiny.

You'll either love it or hate it(not to the same levels as Mumford and Sons though!), she has a distinctive voice that I love.

I dont like to go down the route of "they sound like X crossed with Y"... buuut she does sound reminiscent of Vashti Bunyan, but her voice is louder in the mix than I hear with Vashti's Look Aftering album. Thats where the similarities end for me.

Also, I think "yours truly cellophane nose" is the coolest album name in a long time.

RE: What vinyl are you listening to?

We listented to a couple of classical records I inherited from my parents.

Best one today were harpsichord concertos by Haydn and J.C. Bach, performed by George Malcolm and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fiels on Decca. Great sound (and playing) for a record my father bought in 1969.

I can recommend to anyone who inherits good records to buy a decent record player and simply start listening to them. It also brings back great memories. For me they are the Saturday morning trips with my father to the classical music shop and listening to new records in a booth. He certainly would have approved of my new record player. Smile

Free, new 180g purchase and sounds good to me, mind you it's the first vinyl I've played in 3 months.
