Wall bracket for turntable
I seem to recall this has recently been discussed, but I'll ask anyway, will a wall mounted turntable bracket have any detrimental effect on my sound?
My Roksan is currently in the flight path of a very active two year old, and another wannabee mite is on the way in February, so I need to find a permanent solution to keeping the deck safe and usable.
At present vinyl playing is a complete no go during daylight hours and only possible when the one man stampede is in bed.
Can anyone recommend a decent bracket for my purposes?
I seem to remember the Prof getting one although not for use with a turntable...it might have been a centre speaker support? Anyway, it was the sort of thing you're after.
Any luck, he'll see this post and provide a link.
I was recommended in a post here http://community.whathifi.com/forums/t/286071.aspx, did not get appropriate WAF so I went down different route, but there are several wall mounts designes specifically for TT's

mine on the wall.

Cant work out what the smaller speakers are for do you have 2 separate systems there Stereo and AV?
yes two separate systems.
Yup, I got the Pro-Ject one that's in that other thread i.e. this one. As PJ says though, I got it for my centre speaker but it worked very well for that!

Same as i am using for the turntable.
Unfortunately the sub supplier that made the Pro-ject shelves has retired so we have been forced to remove them from sale. However, we are about to release 2 new models from one of our other manufacturers.
A wall support is probably the best isolation location for your turntable and is far less prone to little fingers than most.
Just how far away would you say the TT needs to be from the speakers to stop feedback through the needle? My Debut II is only a few feet in front and to the side of my left speaker, but I've not noticed any issues as yet. I wanted a wall platform but the missus isn't too keen, she prefers everything on the rack.
At least a few feet if you can. Try to keep the turntable out of the line of fire if at all possible.
