Turntable setup for under £250
hi
im lookin to get a turntable setup for under £250
now obviously that means gettin a turntable, but iv heard that if i want good sound il need a phono preamp, so a decent setup with a turntable and phono preamp fro under 250
dont really know what im lookin at here. :S
thanks
Rega P1 turntable (comes with fitted catridge) £194
Rega Fono-Mini MM phono stage. £55
Total £249
Prices correct from Rega's Sept 2009 pricelist.
This will all take about 2 minutes to set up. The cartridge is already fitted and aligned so no 'faffing'.
My ProJect Genie3 & Phono Box MkII were about £240 that leaves you enough change for a Granite Chopping board from Wilco to put it on - http://community.whathifi.com/forums/t/309815.aspx
rite erm if heard about the pro-ject genie, i shall check the rega's out,
is a phono pre-amp absolutely necessary?
and i currently have a cabridge audio azur 540R av receiver (Ver. 2) as my amp and thats connected to some TDL studio 10's

In this case, yes it is necessary. The back of your receiver does not have a dedicated phono (turntable) input

You have an amp and speakers already, I take it? If so, what are they?
