Turntable help, Quiet output from Ariston ATT-420
Well i just recieved this turntable from ebay :)
I have connected it up with the supplied RCA's straight to my amp and i have to have the amp on full volume to hear any decent levels of output.
The amp is a cambridge audio A1 and the speakers are warfedale diamond 10.1's
Do i need a pre-amp or a phono stage?
As im on a tight budget would this pre amp be ok? would there be much in that price point second hand worth buying?

Sam.
With the A1 you needn't spend much more, no. Not sure you'd find anything better second-hand.
Thanks very much john, my next upgrade would be a new amp, but i think i would be looking at around 250 for that and i suppose i could get one with a phono stage and just sell the other one with my current amp
Sam.
If you can still find one, yes (though I suppose they're making a comeback). Get something modest now and save your money for the amp upgrade.
I was looking at the Marantz PM6003 which has the phono stage built in, is the amp any good?

Clicky
I should have looked there, its where i looked to see what speakers i should get:)
Best get saving then, i have baught a cheap pre amp off ebay to tide me over
Thanks all :)

Sounds like the Cambridge does not have a built in phono stage. Therefore you will need a phono pre-amp.
