Hi,

What difference would an addition of a speedbox to my system make? Does it just change the speed electronically and that's it?

Weeeeeeeeeeell, some might argue that a separate quartz controlled power supply might give you better speed control and therefore better focus, deeper bass, blah blah.

Others might argue it just changes the speed.

Yes, but unless there's some feedback from the platter to enable the speed to be regulated...
