Pro-Ject Debut Carbon and what speakers/amp???
English

Hello to everyone!

I bought  Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with OM10 cartridges. But I still don't know what amp and speakers should buy.

I was going for Wharfedale 121 and Yamaha r-s 500. The dealer proposed me the following:

Celestion F2 speakers combined with a used Rotel 940.

What do you think of the combination? My room is about 30m^2.

I have heard and other speakers, for example Mordaunt-Short Avant 906 (very good bass, not so bright and loud high frequencies),  Dali Zensor 5 (the same as Mordaunt), JBL  XTi40 (too bright and loud high frequencies), Magnat Monitor Supreme 1002 (not overall good)

Though the Celestion are way too cheaper, they sounded better for me and my musical preferences

Keep in mind that I havn't listened the Wharfedale yet!

Anyone have opinion on this subject?

Thanks in advance

The World is your oyster with a budget amp and speakers.  It is the best value and most competitive sector in hifi!

Unusual for a dealer to offer used gear, so either he is stuck with it, or knows you have taste for floorstanders but have very modest budget.  You already like them, so that is a good start.  Why your hesitation, apart from hearing the Wharefdales?

I had thought Celestion company is now history as hifi brand, it may well be owned by a Chinese group (some here seem to know who owns who these days - I get lost!).

How much have you to spend?

Krell CD and amp, Michell/Rega/Grado record player, Hitachi and Sony tuners, Nakamichi cassette, SBT streamer, Sonus faber spkrs.  Sony and Samsung BDP & TVs. Qobuz > iPad > AudioPro Allroom Air One

Nopiano thanks for the reply.

My budget is around 1000 euros.

Till now I spent 330 for the Pro-Ject. Yamaha costs 380 and the Wharfedale 250. On the other hand Rotel costs 200 and Celestion 280.

In that case, if you like the dealer, I would ask to hear the Rotel and Yamaha with your choice of speakers, including the old Celestions you seem to like. Most of the speakers you are interested in have been reviewed on these pages or gave been commented on in this forum, which you can easily search. You may get a variety of conflicting advice here, so I suggest you trust your ears and preferably try at home first.

Good luck!
