how to remove sellotape from record album covers?
Many years ago when I first started buying records I was persuaded to put sellotape( sticky transparent tape) over the open edges of the album covers to protect them against wear. A bad idea. Now the sellotape is old , yellow or brown and starting to peel off. But it leaves a sticky brown residue. I still cherish the looks/quality of my vinyl and would like to know how to remove the tape and residue without damaging the covers. Any ideas????
I've used two products for years for tasks like this:
Servisol Label Remover: http://easyind.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=LO50
Goo Gone: http://www.axminster.co.uk/goo-gone-prod376969/
Goo Gone is excellent for lots of other uses. Unfortunately, I've never seen it sold in shops and its not cheap. Widely available online though.
Hope this helps?
Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. I will try them out.

Hairdryer. Take your time and the gunk should come off with the tape. Rubbing your finger over any warmed up residue should roll it off ,kindof.
Mind yer pinkies as it gets a tad warm working close to the end of the dryer.
