Gus's subplatter & ME Technoweight
English

So I did something silly today, two "upgrades" came in the post and I fitted both at the same time.

I don't know if it's the aluminium subplatter, red belt, tighter spindle on the vinyl or the Technoweight but… BOOM

Epic soundstage, immersive, subtleties in the music — brilliant.

Technoweight was a mild faff to fit — and for some reason the dots aren't quite giving me an exact 0.1g as it says. I had to use the mini scales I have to set it up to 2g

hey JC, Ive got Gus subplatter here too, but the spindle is ever ever ever so smaller than the Rega so i have lateral play, when I insert - it drops straight down unlike the Rega one which takes ages. The result of this with the extra play with Gus's its causing some platter wobble. Was your a tight fit? ie did it go down slowly into the housing?

Mine ws a freebie from Gus, so I really need to let him know, i tried to shim it with tape but it didnt work arrggghh

Mine was tight but didn't notice much difference from original plastic Rega sub.

James. Pretty much all graduated vtf indicators , be them dots , numbers or baked beans are a rough guide , in some cases very rough !.

I find 2.2g on the dial give me 2.0g on the 10x5 - I have experimented with tracking force but not noticed any difference

Yeah but this was oddly tricky for some reason — I found it easier to get it bang on 2g compared to the Rega dial — I'll have a play another time.
