Gus's Argentinian Sub-Platter

As promised would let people know about this new sub-platter.

Well it arrived last weekend well packed and well made.

Can't fault the quality of the sub-platter or Gus's comuniction and instructions.

Fitted to my TT on Saturday and the difference is subtle.

On some of my records I had noticed a little speed variation,

this seems to have now disapeared.

There doesn't seem to be a big difference in SQ

Not like the big difference from P3-24 to Inspire upgrade or from Elys2 to ClearAudio MM.

The platter runs smoother, a lot less sideways movement(if this makes sense)

Also fitted my IsoKinetik ISOweight (130g), can now shut lid, brilliant.

Is the lack of difference due to the Inspire high mass plinth?

Anyway happy with my overall sound and will now concentrate on more music.

Andy

Did you get one of Gus's freebies?

He emailed me a while back asking me if I wanted to test one for the RP6 - he is sending me one - see if its as good as the Groovetracer!

Not a freebie one of his in production ones for older regas.

Only £77 inc P&P so not a bad price at all considering other metal subs

Also the extended spindle means the inspire puk sits more securely

yeah he has had the RP6 ones in development for a while, he has kept me up to date with progress, he was sending it today but its been put back!

With you having the Inspire upgrade I imagine the subplatter would be quite subtle - but as you know all these little tweaks all add up!

Im still not decided on a cart yet, but I have in my possesion to fit tomorrow a Dynavector 10x5 which Floyd Droid has kindly lent me!

Good luck with the cart.

Don't get me wrong I like the sub-platter it's better quaility and the longer spindle is good.

Speed fluctuations gone and for the price I can't complain.

For my total outlay on my TT I'm very happy

£249 P3-24

£119 Elys2

£473 Inspire Upgrade

£135 ClearAudio Concept MM

£77 Aluminium Sub-Platter

Toatal

£1053  and that includes two carts and it sounds fantastic to me.

And before anyone says well you could have spent that on XYorZ

at the time of orig purchase I didn't have the money. So the upgrade path has been a good and enjoyable one

Whoops plus £198 for Rega TTPSU mk2

I would guess your deck sounds better than a stock RP6 - would be good to hear it!

It would be nice to compare and see where it stands now

Looking forward to hearing about the results on the RP6.

I'd love to try one.

RE: Gus's Argentinian Sub-Platter

Well my loan of GT Subplatter has expired - got Gus's SubPlatter today!

Really well made, came with a black belt and little bit of oil.

I take it a few drops on the spindle? decided to keep my white belt on.

Initial impressions are positve, really good clarity, soundstage & noise floor is quiet

In all honesty this had to better value than the GT

Sounding very nice!!!!!
