A work colleague placed 2 seperate £500 bets on Argentina to win the World Cup before the tournament started @ 5/1. He's cashed in one at a £1250 profit, and put that profit on Germany to lift the trophy, so he can't possibly lose. He's heard through his betting circles of someone who stands to win £40,000 if Argentina win the World Cup from a treble he placed of Man City winning the Premier League, Real Madrid winning the Champions League, and the formentioned Argentina World Cup win. I stand to win a bit from either team winning, though financially speaking, an Argentina win would be best. Incredibly small potatoes compared to the other two though.

Nice one!

Still not convinced Messi is

Still not convinced Messi is totally comfortable at international level. He flits in and out of games too often, however, if he scores the wiiner that will change. For the timebeing I reserve judgement.

As I have a sliver of German in my DNA (allegedly), I'm going with the Deutschmeisters.

If the shoes don't fit, change the horse.

Nah, I'm a bloody expert when it comes to belated boredom.

This is a quick ode to the

This is a quick ode to the World Cup (Warning to those with a nervous disposition: Do not take it too seriously)

"The four weeks is now over, we can all trudge back into our fold

Hodgson’s boys, like joyful children searching for ardent glory

Guttering, writhing in their own sweat-sodden disgraceful, miserable foray

Joachim Löw is blowing the dust from his Lederhosen, whilst Messi picks up the ‘Golden Ball’ award, sponsor chosen.

Big Phil is in the past tense, Brazil is penning in the ‘Happy One’.

The adopted Russian back in London is coughing and gagging with an “ee bah gum”.

Mrs. P laments: “Oh Lord! How will you cope without Lineker, Ferdy and Wrighty?!”

And let’s wave a fond ‘Tara chuck’ to our Catalonia-bound enigma that is Bitey, Bitey."

If the shoes don't fit, change the horse.
