And yet you sound so much like one.

What does that sound like, any particular genre of music, punk maybe?
I was referring to a "beat the poor with a stick" mentality. With the proper motivation they'll become high-fliers in this land of opportunity.
As a former resident from about a mile up the road in Dagenham, i do to a certain extent see what the argument is. Although it has never been the greatest of areas, it has declined as an area over the last 20 years. It has also gone from a predominately white area, to having a largely Asian and African community, not saying it is connected, but a lot of the white people who live there think it (and believe me there is a lot of racist people there!)
Too be fair to the "immigrants" this guy is mentioning, they are not scroungers, and a lot of them work bloody hard. He should stop using it as an excuse, times are hard and I'm sure if he wants a job that bad then he would take anything that would pay a wage. The being homeless bit doesn't work either, because there is a huge council estate in Barking and I know from people still there that the council can get you in emergency housing if you are prepared to live 16 floors up in a tower block. (Admittedly it is a horrible estate, but if your homeless you'd just be glad for a roof over your head)
The problem I have noticed is that nowadays some people find it easier to sit on the dole than go and get a job on minimum wage. But in turn a lot of "immigrants" won't sit at home and take the money and would rather clean toilets, or sweep the streets or do all the rubbish jobs the English people don't want.
And on a lighter note, I would never have offered the guy a bed as by the look of him he probably would have robbed the place! As a fellow local I remember the days of having a different person coming over every few days selling knock off gear!
(By the way I don't live there anymore, not because I'm a racist, but because I lost my job there, and luckily for me I have family dotted over the country and made the choice to search elsewhere. And as the recession has kicked in (and in turn the motor trade being one of the worst affected trades) I have been out of work a few times but have dug in done some nasty jobs, been humiliated by claiming unemployment benefit, moved again, sitting on a house with £30,000 negative equity. But between me and the wife we are still working, now living in manchester, and managing okay)
Sympathy left the trio over "creative tensions" with the other two. Sympathy is currently working on his first solo project.
Empathy has announced he's left the scene entirely to farm penguins at the North Pole.
Compassion is considering legal action against Sympathy and Empathy to retain the naming rights to the group before relaunching with a new line-up.
A come-back tour is not on the horizon.
