VW Passat owners or Technicians
English

I have purchased a 2012 VW Passat which has had the media-in unit removed.
I am trying to buy one to enable me to play my i-pod classic in the car, but it is a bit of a minefield.
They are very expensive new so i have been looking on a well known auction site but there are various part numbers.
When i contacted my local VW dealer they were reluctant to help as I was`nt purchasing from them.

Anybody know what will fit or point me to where I could find out.

Any input welcome.

Thanks.

Worth a crack at posting here? This kind of specialist forum has solved all kinds of car problems for me in the past.

And so, on Feb 22nd 1966,...

Hi,

You could check with your local Halfords or ICE specialist - I've used a place in Stoneywood (nr Glasgow) before for handsfree Parrot kit - who also have fitting kits etc. required to make an after market radio appear as if it was OE.

Prices seem reasonable depending on manufacturer/preference but most have AUX input and/or bluetooth connectivity along with an in-built handsfree option.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Confnchtr,

Thanks for the heads up about Stoneywood. I went to my local guy in Falkirk and it was him who told me it was a specialised unit in my model.

Posted on Spiny Norman`s lead and got the info i required.

Bought one on Fleabay, so here`s hoping it goes ok.

Cheers.

Hi,

Hope all goes well with fleabay purchase.

Just followed the link and realised you weren't looking for a head unit (I thought you were).

SKIDZ in Falkirk?

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Cofnchtr,

It was`nt SKIDZ it was "Car Hi Fi Services" in Longcroft, they were very helpful.

Cheers.

Hi,

Don't know why I said Stoneywood - it was Car hi-fi Services I was thinking of. That's where I got my hands free kit.

Longcroft. Longcroft. Longcroft.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.
