The BBC have started selling audio CDs again after the demise of their previous CD publisher 'AudioGo'.
The new label is 'BBC Physical Audio' and they appear to be ramping up a lot more releases (old and new ones) between now and December.
I missed this news item back in March but it explains ...
Needless to say (many of you know what a BBC radio 'freak I am') I have already placed a few pre-orders.
A lot of this material is available to download on 'Audible.co.uk' (an Amazon UK service) but the quality is execrable and the bit-rate derisory because they have no respect for the audio demands of well recorded, full-cast, audio drama / documentary content. (The old AudioGo download site used to give you full 256K MP3 files whereas some of the Amazon 'Audible' offerings are less than 56K.)
So I am happy the BBC have a new partner for publishing their audio CDs and I can get ripping again very soon
