Blimey, decent player IMO but £50M?

If you're looking at defenders, and we all know Man Utd are especially, I've not seen better than the Athletico Madrid quartet this season.

Exactly. Good player but you always fill there's a mistake in him. Chelsea are flushed in the deep midfield area and the back line looks set in stone for next season.

I think it is much harder these days to win the Champions League than it ever was to win the European Cup . Just take a look at who Man Utd played when they won it in 1968, until they played Real Madrid in the semi final they had literally played no-bodies.

Which makes Chelsea's achievements even greater. True they were beaten by the better side last night, but they are still the only English team to reach the latter stages of the CL consistantly over the last 6-7 years.

Also, back in those days the European Cup was solely entered by the champions of each country, so you wouldn't have had all of  Barca, Real, Athletico, and Real Sociadad for example to contend with. The old EUFA cup was in theory a harder competition to win in this respect of a greater number of quality teams being in it.

.

Also don't understand why the Champions of Israel qualify, as it's in the Middle East.

You don't need a PHD to work that one out. They'd have no one else to play.

Country of origin - England not United Kingdom.

Was that Chelsea match

Was that Chelsea match bonkers or what? I was listening to some of the game around the ma-in-laws yesterday, and how it didn't end in double figures I'm not too sure. Once again the Prem has shown what an exciting league it is.

Today has demonstrated what a fabulous league the Prem is. A promoted side beating Man U 5-3, the two bottom clubs winning... and Lamps scoring the equaliser against his old club. Even Mystic Meg could not of predicted today's results/scorers. Fantastic.
