Adele's 'Sky-foal' - verdict?
Heard Adele's Bond theme? Great diction: "...Cwum-balls... Sky-foal...". (Translation: "...Crumbles... Skyfall...")
A rival for Gladys Knight's Licence to 'Kilt'?
Adele's skyfall can be heard on this official site.
Jolly thoughful of then to display the lyrics in the video...
Has any one counted how many times she said Skyfall? It annoyed the rubbish out of me.
...How many times she said Skyfall? ...
Not once. But, excluding backing vocals, there are 16 "Sky-foals" - and 11 "crumb-balls".
She NEEDS a happy song.....
This does indeed resemble something like Goldfinger.... but my goodness... she NEEDS something up-tempo, for sure.
It is not anywhere near as good as Goldfinger though.
It does sound a LOT ... Bond(y) though.
Just wish it was a happier sounding tune is all.
She KEEPS UP with the low tempo sad-sounding tunes though and ... she'll NEED to be put on suicide watch.

Wish I could hear whatever it is about her voice that huge swathes of people rave about. Just '21' alone has gone 16x platinum, let alone sales of '19' and the singles. But why do I just not hear what all those people hear?
Ok she's not so much of a wailer and warbler from the Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston school of singing (singers like that irritate me even more), but I just don't see how her voice is so 'made-in-heaven' like her many disciples say it is.
Give me someone like Karen Carpenter, Diana Ross, Dusty Springfield, Ella Fitzgerald....
From recent years I'd much rather hear Rumer, Caro Emerald, Nora Jones....
Obviously I am in a minority.

Do understand about Adele's appeal. I think she is wonderful but, unlike Dusty or Norah..., can't listen to the whole album without becoming frustrated.
Heard the new Bond theme this morning, and take out Adele's voice it could be passed as any Bond theme tune.

I suspect we are quite a large minority though
For me there has only been 2 great Bond tunes - You Only Live Twice by Nancy Sinatra & The World Is Not Enough by Garbage.
This Skyfall is really nothing special - does not rock my boat.
I hope the film is better than the song. Interestingly the registration number of the Skyfall Aston DB5 is the same as the Aston first used 50yrs ago by all accounts.
Just heard the song on the radio. Dreadfully dull.
There's no denying it's Bond esque need to see how it sits with the film to make full assessment.... not sure yet.
I've read elsewhere some fan's recon that MUSE's new track Supremacy should have been used, at the moment i tend to agree.

The car used 50 years ago, in Dr No, was a Sunbeam Alpine:

The Aston DB5, reg BMT 216A, first appeared in Goldfinger (1964):

And in Skyfall:

And it seems the Skyfall retro chic doesn't end with the car: note Craig's narrow-lapel, two-button single-breasted suit and the fold-style of his white pocket handkerchief. And here's a still from Dr No:
