What Instrument Do You Play?
My primary instrument is, ehem...my voice...
Followed by classical/electric guitar
And the keyboard...(of which I have a Oberheim OBX which is the one used on Van Halen - Jump)
So, what about you?...
Drums for the last 20 years.
The Wife bought me a bass guitar and amp a couple of years ago, but I can't play for toffee.
9 guitars (various). 1 piano (Blthner, 19th Century). 1 voice (husky). 1 tenor horn (historically).
We have an awful lot of drummers here........
JohnDuncan:an awful lot of drummers
Isn't that tautology?

Elvis certainly can (or could) sing but I was a bass player in metal band for a while. Now a day I would be lucky to have an hour with my telecaster per week....still enjoy playing though.

Just to add a bit of variety I`m an ex-drummer!
By the way JD. Your collection of nine guitars is actually eighteen if you include your nine tennis racquets!![]()
keyboards, keyboards and more keyboards. oh and keyboards.
andy.
I was just wondering what you drummer's have at your disposal?
I recently upgraded from the 17 year old Premier APK I used to own, to a nearly new Mapex Pro-M in Tobacco Fade. It's a custom 'short stax' kit (very shallow toms) with a virgin kick. Hanging toms are 8", 10", 12", 14". Floor tom is 16" & Kick is 20" x 18". Snare is a Mapex 'Black Panther' 14" x 6.5" hammered brass.
Cymbals (all Sabian): 8" Paragon splash, 10" Paragon splash, 10" 'Max Stax', 14" AAX Crash, 16" AAX crash, 17" AAXtreme chinese, 20" AA Ride, 14" HH fusion hats.
All of which is hanging off a 3 sided Pearl ICON rack. Pearl Eliminator double kick pedal (blue cams) & to top it all off Pro-Mark 2B nylon tip Japanese Oak sticks & Remo heads.

Question for you Andy - have you got any keyboards?
Primarily piano. I have a lovely Schimmel piano which I purchased new about 6 years ago and which has now bed in beautifully. I'm playing Shostakovich's 2nd Piano Concerto next June with a local orchestra and can't wait. Its a fantastic work and although its taking lots of patient work, it will be well worth it in the end. The last concerto I played was the Beethoven 'Emperor', an experience I will never forget.
I have a Roland RD300SX digital piano which I use when playing in orchestra pits for shows and the like.
I also sing and play the clarinet.
I am still using my 5 piece Pearl Forum Series which now coming into its 14 years of faithful service. Using Mapex double pedal. Skins are still Pearl. Ride and hi-hat also Pearl. Added 8" Zildjian splash on an LP stand.
Also having a Yamaha DTXplorer as a second kit. I am using this as much as possible for shows.
More into Electronic instruments here with My all time fav being My ROLAND TR-909. This Drum machine may be acient but I would not sell mine for love nor money. And My Technics 1200's which from My point of view musically are counted as INSTRUMENTS.![]()
I play the same Premier Crown drumkit I bought when I was 19. After 24 years it's probably time I got a new one - still looks and sounds great though

How's that working out? I have a Roland TD8 for home practice (Or I will do when we can finally clear some rubbish out of the garage).
I've never even considered using it live though. I like the sound and visual spectacle of a massive kit, which I think the TD8 would not supply.....That and it only has 3 toms and 3 cymbals.

I hear you.
I bought my old Premier as a 5 piece when I was 17, and even then it was 2nd hand! (about 2/3 years old). Over the years I found 8" & 10" matching toms on a stand. Bought a Pearl 'Chad Smith' snare to replace the rubbish original. Recovered them in Cadbury Purple as I was sick of the standard white finish.
But it never let me down. With the addition of the rack and the sheer number of drums & cymbals it always got positive comments.
But in the end it just started looking dated. The trend now is for deeper depth kick drums, so the 22" x 16" kick started looking it's age. The toms were also all power sizes, and started looking old too, that and 17 years of gigging was starting to show on the overall condition.
In the end, I decided we had enough money when we moved to blow a grand on a new shell pack, new snare and some associated hardware! (Took a bit of work with the Wife, but if you go on about something long enough, they'll eventually just shout "Oh go on then!!")
