Just finished watching this incredible series

I initially thought it wasnt going to be too great after watching the first 4 or so episodes, but it turned out to be a slow burner that just kept on giving.

Id say it turned out better than the original Band Of Brothers, and that really IS saying something!

You're at it .... okay, I'll bite

In my opinion it was over-hyped and not a patch on BOB... for anything.

I'll second that - I gave up watching four episodes in, as i felt I hadn't connected with the characters. Unlike Band of Brothers, which got me from the off.

Awesome sound/vision on The Pacific Blu-ray, though Yes

I gave up after a couple of episodes so maybe sometime in the future I need to revisit it. Just did not seem to get drawn into it and identify with the characters like I did with BoB.

If you think its better than BoB it must be special because BoB really is very very good.

Re: The Pacific

I watched it all after all the hype about it, I did enjoy it it was something different to watch but i cannot see me buying the blu rays.

I then purchased band of brothers on blu ray because people were saying it was much better and have now watched it all about 6 times Big Smile and i have to agree it is.

I do not think it will be long before you can pick it up for less than £20 like band of brothers on blu ray so if you wait abit you should pick it up quite cheap.

Re: The Pacific

It better be good, as it's currently en route from Jersey after lightening my bank balance of £33.

I don't have Sky, so have not seen a single minute of it. I bought it on the strength of B.O.B.

*Crosses fingers*.Hmm

Re: The Pacific

It will be interesting to hear your views on it once watched.

Have you watched BoB to make the comparison?

Re: The Pacific

I can understand why some would have bailed out within 4 episodes as I was feeling the same.

From episode 5 onwards its game on

Band Of Brothers was my all time favourite series, The Pacific does have a completely different feel about it, but I felt it was a lot more emotional due to the connection made to just a few characters

Anyone who did bail out should re-evaluate in my opinion

Me?

Yeah. Have B.O.B on BD (and on DVD before that). Watched it start to finish about 4 times over the years.

Re: The Pacific

Glad to report that all you nay-sayers were way off the mark.

It turned up yesterday and I've watched the first two discs. I will concede that compared to Band Of Brothers, there's a slight charisma void about the main cast, but fortunately, Bob Leckie seems to be the focus and he's the most engaging, even if he does seem to flit between aggressive/confrontational and caring/compassionate a bit too quickly for my liking.

The picture and sound are sublime, even on my 720p TV.

I don't know what all you guys are moaning about. Even if you erase B.O.B from your mind, T.P is still a cut above the rest of the tosh on TV.

I hope the next 6 episodes don't let the side down.
