Tacky Songs Unlimited!
Come on then...name 'em!
Name the tackiest songs you know of!
I'll start off: Never Say Never Again - James Bond.
Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Polka Dot Bikini - featuring Timmy Mallet
. . .yes, but Karen's velvety voice redeems all, and in this post-midnight moment it becomes a quintessentially, lost soul communicating universal, sad truths incognito via the medium of sickly song. At least, until I hear, Jumbalya.
It's true, I've seen it.
Songs don't come tackier, or more dubious, than Ringo's 'You're Sixteen'.
Not the far better original Klaatu version? Tch tch. ![]()
Im So Straight I'm a Weirdo by Rick Wakeman
'Barbie Girl' - Aqua
'Especially For You' -ÿKylie and Jason
'Give a Little Love' - Bay City Rollers
And, with the benefit of hindsight: 'Doing Alright With The Boys' - Gary Glitter
OK, so the last one is more painfully ironic than plain tacky.
Barbra Streisand - Woman in Love
Glenn Mederios - nothing gonna change my love for you
Ok, you've done it. You made me open my 7" collection.
Right, where shall I start?
I wanna be a winner - brown sauce b/w Swap Shop Theme
Star Trekkin' - The Firm
Cliff and the young ones - livin' doll
Zambezi - the pirahnas
The Chicken Song - spitting image
(ahem) I'd rather Jack - the reynolds girls (ok, it was a bet at a car boot sale, but still there...)
Have I disgraced myself yet?
the doop song by doop, they couldnt even think off an original name
Ah but some of these are not tacky, they're just 'novelty'. "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship. "Sev Yor Lov" by Ren‚ and Renata. Anything by Mika. "Angelo" by Brotherhood of Man (the first single I ever bought with my own money).

My entire iTunes library?
I've got some real corkers in my cheese selection - including ALL the Bond themes, and plenty of Elvis movie soundtrack gems (Rock-a-Hula, anyone?)
But the tackiest? Tough call. Probably a tie between The Carpenters - Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft and Yummy Yummy by Ohio Express (how can you not love a song whose lyrics start with: "Yummy yummy yummy i've got love in my tummy..."?)
