No HD soundtrack on 'Zodiac' BD?
My director's cut 'Zodiac' turned up yesterday. Settled down to watch it last night, and there doesn't seem to be any trace of a HD soundtrack.[:S]
Is this correct? I mean, 'Se7en' is older, but that has a full 7.1 HD soundtrack. This is probably the only BD I own that doesn't seem to have a HD soundtrack. I went through the set-up menu on the disc, but there's nothing there.
Very odd.....
Yep, looks like the US release - distributed by Paramount - got Dolby True HD, and European release (by Warners) got plain old DD (in many languages). Mind you, also some (disturbingly obsessive) discussion re the European release having a slightly better picture quality.
But both are region-free....
Mine has Dolby Digital on the back and I've gone through each of the audio options and this does seem to be the only option.
Do order the US release - the dialogue is far clearer, as well as it generally sounding much better anyway.
Mission Impossible 3 and Sahara are on DD as well. My Wall-E only states DTS on the back but is actually DTS-HD.
Forgive me if this is a dumb question but is it possible to tell if a BluRay is region free before buying it?
EDIT - Sorry, the answer seems to be yes, but, what i mean to ask is, how do you do that?
Personally, I have a look on the MovieTyme website. Since they test them all, I know for sure it will work and if it doesn't, I can get my money back.

Thanks Prof, thanks Clare.
EDIT: That site does not allow right clicks. Is there another way to add it to my favourites?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found out. ![]()

I have vague memories of this being discussed when the director's cut Blu-ray of Zodiac came out. There was talk of the film being so long that there wasn't room (with the obligatory extra language soundtracks) for a lossless audio soundtrack, 'only' a high-bitrate DD mix.
(Awesome picture, though)
I'll check back...
