'Leon' Blu-Ray
Mine arrived yesterday. Not watched it yet, so can't advise on PQ/SQ, but may watch it today. Has the extended version (an extra 22 mins apparently) as well as the theatrical release on it, which I've not seen before.
One of my fave films and one of a handful I have on DVD that I would swap out for BD.
Let's hope it's worth it......

Will be good to hear your views BC. It's also one of my faves. Portman is astonishing.
As this is the extended version does it include the infamous scenes showing the intense sexual side of the relationship between Leon and Nat Portman or is this still missing that 3rd dimension ?
Still a great film without but after hearing so many film critics discussing a key issue that was cut from the film would love to see the complete film.
Is this the 'Directors Cut' that i've seen available for pre-order?

Well, put it this way, a colleague of mine refers to it, only half-jokingly, as the "peedo" version...
Mine's arrived too and cannot wait to see it in hi-def... hope it's worth it, not watched it for approx 5 years.
I had the R1Superbit version previously in it's director's cut form and it is indeed the better version of the film in my opinion.
Id didnt know of the extended version sounds like the BR may be worth a purchase - sounds liek i robably couldnt rent it in blockbuster (tho i may try first). Unlike many of you here, im a bit of a fairweather film fan - i very seldom buy. I have batman begins and dark knoight bd double set and cloverfield. Then an rem and jeff buckley dvd or 2. But it sounds like this Leon may be worthwhile.
Yes, the extra scenes include the ones with the allegedly 'dubious' tone. Didn't find them that way, myself. Top, top film.
According to a reviewer on amazon the theatrical version is missing a "singin' in the rain" scene - i havent seen it for a long time.
The reviewer said they got the impression that both versions were the directors cut (from which the scene had been removed) with the directors cut scenes taken out of the not-really-original-theatrical-version...
Just recieved my copy today, along with I Am Legend. OK, im a johnny come lately to that one. Strangely, i was made curious by the fact Mike Patton does the animal "voices". No, really.
Which is probably not the best reason to want to see it but the BR was only 10.98 including p&p brand new.

I have to say, I do like the extended version (I've got the R1 DVD with it on), however it does make the film even more French, ie slow, so if you get a bit itchy in the middle part waiting for the showdown at the end of the film, this will be even worse.
I like it though, it really develops the characters, although it's a little uncomfortable in places.
No signature worth mentioning...
