Actors/actresses not recognised outside their genre... but should've been

I think David Jason was excellent in Open All Hours but other than playing Alfred in Hogfather, which he was very good in, I can't watch him in anything else, I just find, facially at least, he overacts something horrible (by that I mean his facial expressions are a bit over the top). I don't know, he just irritates me. I don't find Delboy believable at all, whereas Granville was such a real character.

I always thought Sylvester Stallone should have got more recognition for Copland, very good performance, I thought. Schwarzenegger could never have pulled something like that off, for example.

I'm sure there's others lurking in the back of my mind, I'll remember them later.

Phil Collins was excellent in the film 'Buster'. Hugh Laurie is annoyingly talented as a serious and comedy actor as well as a musician.

Yes, IIRC Depp actually asked Whitehouse if he could appear in the Fast Show, rather than the other way round.

You'd have thought he'd have returned the favour with a role in POTC but maybe he likes him too much for that! I'd like to see Whitehouse play a dark role but perhaps he doesn't want to.

I can't stand Phil Collins as singer or actor (where's the bucket gone)... so there!

I kind of agree, but he is (was, I read he has something that stops him now) a very good drummer indeed.

He was on 'HardTalk' some months back and I think he has some sort of infection which permanently affects his ears. This determines how long he can spend in a recording studio, and means he can't do live shows. Sad for him, good news for us...LOL

Back on topic: Jim Dale, although best known for the 'Carry On' films, has done some really good serious film and stage acting. I think he was one of Spike Milligans favourite actors.
