Just a quick recommendation for The Home Cinema Centre in Edinburgh who helped me find my dream stereo!

Based on reviews, my initial choice was an Audiolab equipment and B&W PM1s, but after some help from Nick, I got something much better within my budget ( I had to strech it quite a bit but it was worth it)! No trouble in ordering gear that wasn't in store for testing, and organising audition (I realised how much this was important as it ruled out some equipment that sounded great in the shop). I think I must have tested all speakers within my budget in the shop (Great selection too btw), and Nick was always happy to help.

Quality of service is essential when spending that kind of money, and I found it was so much better than other shops around. Since this was my  first "serious" stereo, I really appreciated their advice and patience. I have no doubt I now have the best system for my budget.  good job

I'd highly recommend this shop to anyone near Edinburgh - I'm actually back again at their shop to replace my cables (And going through their selection again)!    Smile

Got to agree with you Bigmoose. The Home Cinema Centre in Edinburgh really gives a first class service. I've just purchased my speakers, sub, cabinet,tv,cables, etc all from them. I travelled around 50 miles (from Kilmarnock) to buy my gear there. You just can't put a price on good service, after service help and advice. I would recommend them to everyone. Great selection, good advice and everyone I've dealt with are very knowledgeable with no hard sell and excellent to deal with even after I've paid the money. They just go that extra mile to make sure I'm happy with my products and that I get the RIGHT products to suit my needs and circumstances.

I've just read that the news story here, that they are closing down, we need a lot more of these smaller retailers, it'll be a sad day when they've gone.

This is sad news, 99% of my av purchases are done in Edinburgh. The bulk from James Morrow. More recently I bought my tv from hcc.

Both Dan and Nick were excellent. It took over 2 weeks for me to get the plasma picked up due to personal circumstances. They were helpful and the store looked great.

Was going to use them for my next purchase-whatever that is going to be??!!

Does this mean they are only online retailers??

John

Ps. See that the trams were cited in the article!!  Been great for business in Ed so far-...not

Are there any plans to open a brick and mortar shop in the future Nick?

I have many plans but that is not one of them. A dedicated showroom perhaps but I very much doubt I will be returning to bricks and mortar retail as The Home Cinema Centre.
