Hi,

Quick shout out for the Home Cinema Centre in Edinburgh, makes you realise that your treated like cattle in the 'white goods shops'.

Visited recently for a BD player, hoping to get a demo of two. Called in on the offchance but demo room was taken. I was offered the chance to book a demo for later but declined as I had narrowed my choice to two players and received a demo of both on the shop floor. I took one of them home for a chance to test within my own set up and a few days later called them to let them know I'd keep it. Gerry sent me through a voucher with details of how to claim free BD's from Pioneer because I had bought within a promotion period.

My OH came with me (prob to ensure my credit card wasn't extensively used!!) a cup of tea was offered (although she declined - gasp) she sat and watched Transformers on another set...

Gents I will be back soon for a demo of some amplifiers but I will book ahead this time.

Thanks for the hospitality - hope you have a prosperous New Year.

Cheers.

Cofnchtr.

Re: The Home Cinema Centre

I used them recently to buy a pair of headphones for my dad's birthday. There had been problem with their website (I'm down in Leicestershire) so I phoned them the next day at about 1pm.

They were very helpful over the phone, checked that my sale hadn't gone through on the website, took my order over the phone and mentioned that the courier hadn't been yet so would try and get them sent that day,

The headphones arrived the next morning on a next day courier and I hadn't even paid for delivery.

Very good service, I'll definitely look at using them again the next time I'm after some AV equipment.

Re: The Home Cinema Centre

Another Yes from me! Ordered a Sonos S5 & ZoneBridge from them. Very courteous. Respond to emails quickly (hats off, Gerry & Nick!) & kept me updated about the order. As the ZoneBridge was not in stock initially, they sent the S5 by next day CityLink (free delivery!). When the ZoneBridge came back in stock today, Gerry called me to update me on the status. Should get it by Monday Party!!!

Absolutely superb shopping experience & customer service!

Re: The Home Cinema Centre

Yup, thumbs up from me too. I bought my Yamaha RX-V3900 receiver from The Home Cinema Centre. I also bought my Apollo stands which involved a fair bit of messing around in their show room with different options and their sofa! They ordered in the ones I wanted and got them delivered to my office. I got a call before they were due to make sure someone would be there to sign for them and look after them due to the weight, and also a call after I'd had them a couple of days to make sure they were OK, and I was happy with them.

Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly staff.

Re: The Home Cinema Centre

I bought my amp, blu-ray player and speakers (and all cables) from the home cinema centre.  Pre sales advice and post sales service was excellent.

In fact they even gave me technical support with my TV when I was having set up problems whilst the pioneer dealer I bought it from never returned my calls.

Hi,

As per promise in first post, a further visit to the shop, a demo with Yamaha, Pioneer, 2 cups of tea with biscuits and I now own a Pioneer VSX-LX53 with free BDP-LX54 player.

Thanks to Chris for his time and patience.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Re: The Home Cinema Centre

Another massive shout-up from me. I've sung this shop's praises for a while now and with good reason. I had ordered a Harman HK990 amp recently, which they had to order in from Harman as they now no longer stock it as standard. During the time that my amp was on its way, I was told my work contract might not be renewed. The shop were excellent when I told them I wasn't in a position to buy and needed to return the amp. They refunded my card on the day and there was no fuss, even though they're now stuck with an HK990 instore (or were, it might've gone by now).

Absolutely, the best shop I've never bought anything from (sadly), but happy to give them another recommendation on this thread.
