The Good, The Bad...
I have recently updated, or rather tried to update my system. And what a nightmare it has been.
Dealers that do not answer emails.
Others that refuse to accept a certain product exists in a certain colour.
Others that deliver the wrong cloour.
And some that show a product is in stock , to the tune of 5, and then email you to say " oh no it isn't" once you have ordered it.
The ones I eventually spent my money with ? Those that answer enquiries, call back to see if everything is okay ,and check around for stock levels.

Thats where i`d like to think that I excel
I always answer emails, always. (unless i`m away on holiday)
I never say its in stock if it isn`t.
I do not and will not allow you to make a purchase online for that very reason that you quote
I never moan about other dealers, they do what they do, I do what I do
I do not box sell
I`m very sorry that you had an unfortunate experience of late, we dealers are not all the same though thank god

I can only speculate as to why some people come across these issues. So here goes.
Unfortunately we're all human. Things can slip your mind. The busier the dealer, the more possibility that can happen.
As far as stock levels go, the smaller stores who don't keep much stock tend to know exactly what they have in stock, but when you have a successful website as well, dealing with thousands of products, and you're booking in/storing/processing 10's or even 100's of a particular product sometimes, you will end up with stock discrepancies. Given the amount of boxes we book in every week, we have a surprisingly small amount of issues, but they can happen. With huge stockholdings, sending wrong colours can ocassionally happen sometimes - how many times have you plugged in an audio interconnect to find out you've plugged the red into the white and the white into the red?
The flipside to this, are the stores that just don't get back to people because they can't be bothered, just don't really know what they're doing, or tell people they have stock to get orders.
Luckily, it tends to be the stores that don't have these issues that survive, so we can rest easy
