Re: Sevenoaks What a bunch off !!!!!

Just had a call from Sevenoaks who asked me to clarify a couple of things:

1)  Re the OP, and anyone else who may have experienced problems at any Sevenoaks branches, you can email them at admin@ssav.com and they'll endeavour to help sort things out.

2) Yes, they will be opening three new stores in the M25/South East area this September. They'll be Sevenoaks-owned stores rather than franchises.

Did they give you any more clues than that, where those shops might be?

Thanks

I bought my speakers at Sevenoaks Lincoln and they were great. Let me stay for hours trying all my favourite songs out without any pressure. Gave me a good discount too.

Must have been a bad day for them.

Re: Sevenoaks What a bunch off !!!!!

I was in a similar situation as the op last Saturday in Leeds Panasonic store. I went in with cargo shorts and a tee shirt on. I looked around the store for a while seeing what tv models were there. I found a 42d25 which I was interested in and a 50v20. I only want a 42" model. I looked at both sets initially. I still had my headphones in listening to music. I then turned off my music when I decided to have a closer look at the tvs. I even got a tape measure out and measured the d25 and a 42g20. I even peered around the back of a few plasma sets to hear for any buzzing or fan noise. At no point did anyone ask me if I would like any help. There was only one customer who was being dealt with. The other guy just stood leaning against the counter watching me. I had eye contact with him on a few occaisions as well.

It's a shame all their staff aren't as good as the team in Southampton; bought amp and speakers there recently.

They spent ages with me on three occassions and then topped it off by beating RS price by a significant margin. Helpfull, friendly, knowledgable and patient.

I hope their skills ensure survival from the challenge of the new BestBuy

I can vouch for the Sheffield branch Yes

Bought my AV equipment from them & even got it installed by them. Very patient & helpful. Speak to Andrew at Sheffield branch.

They're situated inside Ponsford showroom now. So definitely ask for help & advice. Many of Ponsford furniture shoppers like to stroll over to their section to peer over the lovely Loewe TVs without actually having the intention to buy it. So they tend to leave shoppers alone to let them browse freely. They will offer good advice if you ask them & show interest in their products.

Re: Sevenoaks What a bunch off !!!!!

Have only used Sevenoaks Bromley, where I found the staff to be helpful, knowledgeable and courteous.

Bought some speakers from them in Sept '08. During the demo the fella reminded me that I should allow my CDP and amp to warm up; was very patient while I was dithering with indecision and re-demo'ing; eventually gave me a very generous discount on the as new/boxed ex-demo KEFs.

In Dec '09 I bought a Philips 47PFL7404 TV, again they were helpful and courteous. And happy to price match. However, after a month or so it transpired that the 47PFL7404 has two fundamental design flaws. In short, the process of returning the TV for a full refund was hassle-free, though a tad long-winded while they consulted with Philips, for which I blame the latter.

FWIW, I'll use Sevenoaks Bromley in the future.

Re: Sevenoaks What a bunch off !!!!!

I've used Kingston, where they've been most helpful, and Holborn, where they've veered between spending an afternoon with me listening to speakers and swapping CD players on my whim, and a bit standoffish when I actually bought some. Maybe the margins were lower on the AVIs than the Spendor SA1s Smile

On the whole I think they're to be lauded as one of the few dealers left, tbh.

Sevenoaks in Lincoln is closed, I think that's what he meant (especially since the OP mentions Lincoln). They closed at some point in 2011 unfortunately.
