I was just wondering if anybody has bought a new processor recently at anything near a reasonable cost. i have a TAG AVR32 which seems to be out of date when we talk of Digital sound and Blue ray Full HD. I contacted Tag now audoilab and the recommend the 8000 series i have read up but whilst the sound spec seems ok the Video processing is limited? would this matter? ie( some sound processing not available). I use the processor as the heart of SKY+ and DVD (soon blue ray) system. i will be using my existing Rotel power amps to supply grunt! in a 7.1 setup.

any help please

Seeing as you have Rotel amps, have a look at their new 1570 processor. Seems to be one of the few HD processors out there at present. There is also Marantz' AV8003 pre/pro.

The Marantz is one to look at but be quick prices are on the rise. You could try the SC-LX81 from Pioneer and use it along with the Rotel. We set one up a month ago with a Rotel powering the rears and centre and the 81 biamped to the fronts. It sound superb.
