Re: http://www.exceptional-av.co.uk/

I cant say my experience was as great as Professor Hat's.

But I guess the only thing I lost was time and compared to 3 previous suppliers who cancelled my order for me Smile (didnt know people did that) they did deliver in the end.

((what was slightly frustrating after committing to an order after delays, another supplier emailed me to say they had the same item cheaper and in stock ready to go))

Must be something about ONKYO's and me...

Re: http://www.exceptional-av.co.uk/

Hi all,

First-time poster, so be gentle with me!

My story goes...Bought a Onkyo CR525DAB from Exceptional AV yesterday at 4pm, complete with 'Next Day' delivery.

Total (good!) price = £178.98.

Then telephoned Exceptional 10 minutes later to confirm that delivery would be today, before 12 noon, only to be told that the item was actually 'Out of Stock'.Tongue Tied.!!..which begged my questions to the chap on the phone..

(i)                  Why your website did not state 'out of stock' at the time of ordering?

(ii)                Why you charged me for 'Next day delivery' knowing the above?

(iii)               If I had not telephoned to enquire about delivery dates, then I could have been waiting indefinitely for the unit to arrive.

I've saved for months for this unit in these recessionary times, and am now in a position where I can't buy until my account is refunded..very annoying this.

I've e-mailed my concerns to 'Exceptional AV' this morning, so I await a telephone call from their MD in due course...!!

Regards,

Pete.

Yeah, the more I see, the more I feel I might have been the lucky one as opposed to the others being isolated incidents. I guess the answer is to phone them before ordering and ensure it's in stock - something I always do on a major purchase which could be why I am lucky.

Re: http://www.exceptional-av.co.uk/

Hi,

They might just tell you they have it in stock anyway to take your money...they may feel that once the money is in the bank you may just wait until your order is dispatched??

Just MHO though.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Re: http://www.exceptional-av.co.uk/

i would just like to know did everyone who used the10% promotion that exceptional av do with what hifi this year get everything ok, as i used it last year i got a great bargin from them. but it did take around a month to turn up, after many phone calls to them & being told it would be here on this day next week then never turning up, good job i work nights & did'nt have to take day's off work to wait in.
i will add if you have any problems with what you buy from them don't bother emailing for a reply as they tend not to always reply all the time i do just so i have it in writing when i contacted them.
i have had my amp sent away 2 times so far that i got from them, last time as 1 of the hdmi outputs was playing up & would take around 10 min to connect to the screen when you first turned the amp on from cold, it was picked up both times no problems by genserve.
when it was returned last time to me the repair note made it sound like i had broken something on it, but as nothing had been connected in or out since before it went wrong i emailed them & genserve to ask what they had fixed as i did'nt understand the note. i got no reply
well today was the 1st time i wanted to use this hdmi output when i had just turned the amp on as it is connected to my projector now & i don't use my projector much, surprise i did'nt work i had to wait until the amp was warm to get a picture.
well the main reason i have posted it here about retailers when i contacted exceptional av to let them know i had sent my amp to genserve to be fixed myself, after a few emails to them telling them my problems & what i should do all with no reply.
i emailed them asking what my rights were regarding an extended warranty or replacement amp, & if i did'nt get a reply i would post on what hifi forum about the service i have had with them, as i had only used them after seeing the promotion on what hifi, i got a reply back then saying that they were sorry for the service & the md would contact me, well i am still waiting a couple of weeks later for him to contact me.
well wish me luck then as my amp seems like it might not of been fixed with the problem it was sent away with, i may have to go through it all again & i'm really not looking forward to it.

Re: http://www.exceptional-av.co.uk/

I wish I had found this thread before placing an order with this lot, I would probably have gone elsewhere.

I ordered an Onkyo HTX-22HD & the SKS-11 centre and rear Speakers for the HTX-22HD on their web site late on the 20th of December and both items were in stock.  I was expecting them to be shipped on the 21st for delivery on the 22nd.  On 21st at 17:24 I received an email to say that the bad weather had forced the courier to close and orders due to go out on the 21st would ship on the 22nd.  I replied to the email saying that the 23rd was not ideal for me, unless they could upgrade delivery to before noon.  As I had not received a response to my email by 14:00 on the 22nd I phoned and asked if delivery could be postponed until the 30th or 31st as this would be more convenient for me.  This was agreed and I asked for an email confirming the new delivery date.  The mail said:

" Just to confirm, we will ship your parcel for delivery on the 30th - 31th.

We have just heard some news that the Onkyo HTX-22HD units are stuck on
route to us, so fingers crossed we have them by the 30th."

I can't blame them for the weather messing things up but I didn't need the items for Christmas so a later delivery was OK.  The second sentence however didn't fill me with confidence, they didn't mention that on the phone, but they were cheaper than anybody else I found online so I crossed my fingers.

Today I received the HTX-22HD but not the SKS-11.  I have sent an email asking about the SKS-11, but as it now showing as out of stock on their site I can guess the answer.  Although I think I will be lucky to get a response to my email based on experiences others have posted here.  I may phone later but I suspect that will just wind me up and not get the speakers delivered any quicker.

Like others I am not happy that my credit card was charged on the 20th for both items when it appears that they didn't have stock.  Also not happy about the lack of communication, i.e. ignoring emails and not sending an email to inform me item had been shipped or was out of stock.  It is annoying when retailers run out of stock, but I'd be a lot less annoyed if they were honest with me and kept me informed.

Re: http://www.exceptional-av.co.uk/

I used my 10% discount last year just before Christmas and then eventually cancelled my order for a Yamaha RX-V1900 Amp in the start of April when I still didn't have a confirmed delivery date. I think I eventually waited over 110 days and had lost count the number of times I had got delivery dates, confirmed. Yes, there were general issues with Yamaha supply, but I was able to walk into a store who had both the 1900 and 3900 in stock and walk out with the higher spec model.

They also refunded my money in two lots...can't remember why, but there was some problem with that too - never mind the fact they had charged my credit card despite not having the goods in stock. Communication wasn't brilliant either. Delivery dates came and went and I found myself having to call them to find out why the unit hadn't arrived.

I've seen a number of positive posts about them too, but I wouldn't buy from them again unless I had spoken to someone who told me they had the item in stock. I would then ask him to go and get me teh serial number from the box to prove it. At least that way you should get your order delivered OK.

Re: http://www.exceptional-av.co.uk/

I am a new member and joined because I read your posts and got nervous about ordering from Exceptional AV however I wanted the interest free option. I phoned up and the gentleman on the phone was very helpful and explained they expected the stock in the next day. I placed my order and recieved the paper work the next day, and as discussed the item has arrived exactly on time via DHL.

I understand you have to vent your problems so I decided I would vent my happiness of recieving my product on time.

I personally would recommend them again

PS I am looking forward to testing my Onkyo tx sr 608!!!
