Dropped in to HiFi Gear in Gloucester at the weekend. Quite a new store by the looks of things with a nice show-room and a great selection of kit.

Asked to audition a B&W CM1 and Rotel amp combo but unfortunately the CM1s weren't in stock.

Phil offered an audition of the CM7s which I accepted and this was all set up while we wondered around some nearby shops.

40 mins later I'm sitting in a geat listening room, very comfortable surroundings with a good selection of discs. Very pleased with the service. Contact details were provided so that I could call and arrange the CM1 audition at a later date, once back in stock. Will definately return.

What were the CM7s like? Brilliant! Just a bit out of my price range unfortunately!

Re: Hi-Fi Gear. Gloucester.

A quick word to say thanks to the guys at Hi-fi Gear.
B&W's inability to keep up with demand for their subs at other suppliers left me stock hunting and I'm very pleased to have found Hi-fi Gear as a result.

Pleasant, knowledgable service with calm surroundings and decent sized listening rooms (untried but I plan a proper visit next time). Overall I'm a very happy camper that there's now proper local competition for hi-fi sales and this time there's decent parking!

As for the sub?
It's bearly run and it's already more than a match for the rest of our setup - and nextdoors door-slamming kids. Mind you judging sub volumes is far harder than I imagined if you want to keep the neighbours happy!

I've had my ASW610 for a few months and although it sounded great when I first turned it on, in the past week or so it has settled in and it now sounds awesome, good choice.

Re: Hi-Fi Gear. Gloucester.

Brought my first setup from hifi gear, about 4 years ago. Great staff and always eager to help.

I have moved from Glos, but whenever I do head back I always pop into the store.

RE: There's this shop near me...

Seriously unimpressed with this shop, i ordered a stand (brand new) from them, which when i received had two missing screws.  So i sent back, only two receive a call that they had another new one and this one was complete with all screws and they had checked it, i then say yes i will have it then, received it with yet again two missing screws.  So i call them to say i want to return it, only for them then to have a go at me on the phone, that this was now costing them alot of money with postage.

I certainly will never shop with them again.

Gel, this is incorrect. We have refunded your return postage costs early this week on the first stand that you returned. The replacement stand which you have returned has not yet been received by us. We cannot refund an item that we have not received back.

I have asked you to speak to the shipping company you used to trace it's whereabouts, but we have heard nothing from you.

With regards to the 'missing screws' we have spoken to Pioneer and they have confirmed the exact fixings supplied with the TS33A stand, and there were no missing screws anyway.

regards,

Phil

Hi Phil

It was perfectly correct, i never spoke about costs, i spoke about you having a go at me on the phone and your manners and saying the other one was complete too and you had checked which clearly you had not.

With the stand i have since bought a new one and this one does have all screws.

Regards

OK, both sides have now had their say. gel and Phil, if you want to discuss this further, I suggest an exchange of emails or a phone call might be more appropriate rather than arguing it out here.

I'm going to lock this one now.
