Hi-Fi dealers knowledge - or lack of (continued)...
Ok, one from a Hi-Fix staff member. The latest email in my continual quest to get them to confirm if they will ever stock Partington stands again since the new ownership/manufacturing deal went through.... Reply was as such: "Hi, Not totally sure, but this is very unlikely due to the ceased production of Partington Stands. It is always possible another stand manufacturer may purchase the name and continue Partington's work".. Er, yes. I think you'll find matey boy that's exactely what is happening... Another owner is going to continue production with Peter Partington overseeing things - which is all explained fully on their website. Cue sigh of despair at dealers lack of awareness of situation.... PS - It wasn't our David obviously.
Little bit of politics there, ladies and gentlemen... ![]()
Curious I thought Peter Partington had refused to sell to a company that wanted to offshore production in favour of another deal that would keep the manufacturing in the UK?
Yes lhc.
According to this November news item the Partingtons will continue to be built in the UK and Peter Partington chose the new company specifically for that reason.
Here is their website...
FrankHarveyHiFi:As far as I understand things, Partington as we know it is no more. The stands they are known for are no longer going to be made in the UK by a UK work force.
Given that future Google searches for Partington are going to find comments like the above (which could affect their sales), it might be worthwhile giving Partington's new lease of life (with Peter Partington's continuing involvement) as a UK manufactured product a bit more prominence for the sake of clarity.
Dave, I respect that you are busy but perhaps a phone call to their new owner and distributor http://www.audiomanogamy.co.uk/ would be useful for Partington and their continued success and their future (and existing) customers.
We all know how 'rumours' and misinformation (even well-intentioned) can harm companies. It almost happened to Alphason in the early days. (Even without the power of the internet). Luckily Alphason survived - albeit as a hifi furniture manufacturer.
In all fairness we can't know everything and I dont expect my team to either.
We were a Partington dealer but there was no letter from Partington to say they were stopping production or a letter from the new company introducing themselves. We only find out as we tried to order some stock.
peter partington and his business partners are the ones that should be making the time to inform people of the position of their company, not hifi dealers.
if misinformation spreads around the web they have no one but themselves to blame..
My understanding is that the retailer Audio Affair are the new owners of Partington - please correct me if wrong.
Hifi Gear,
Please fill out your signature and bio, in accordance with House Rules:
"9) Manufacturers, retailers, service providers and their staff are required to identify themselves as such in their signature. Any additional information - such as the telephone number, email and website address of the company - should be put in the user's profile, where retailers must also list all the brands they stock. 'Trade' members of the forum failing to meet these conditions will be removed, as will those the moderators suspect to be trade members posting under an alias."
Dazmb - sorry to hear you have been misinformed since the article regarding Partington being purchased by Audio Manogamy was published weeks ago on What Hi-Fi. We run Audio Manogamy and thus we are the new owners of Partington and Co.
Peter Partington entrusted us with his business (and his legacy following years of successful stand manufacturing) to continue the Partington brand. The stands are still being made in the UK, by a British workforce and this will continue for as long as it is possible. As such, we are doing our utmost to support British manufacturing and British industry - something which is very dear to my heart.
We recently received our first batch of Ansa and Super Dreadnought stands from the new manufacturer and the quality is even better than we hoped for. Broadsides and the rest of the range are due soon. Peter Partington will continue to work with us as designer.
We are yet to publish a complete list of appointed retailers and it is our right to confirm this when we are ready. We invite retailers to e-mail us directly for information as the professional and most efficient way to contact us. If you have any questions about the range, feel free to e-mail the Audio Manogamy guys at info@audiomanogamy.co.uk

It really depends who answered you. Some of the guys spend so much time doing their job that they don't have time to keep up with industry goings on - one of the guys spends his whole day adding and amending product profiles on the website, so he may well be unaware of the full situation. I'll admit myself that there are probably similar situations I'm not aware of as I just don't get time to surf around and find out info - hell, I've not even had the time to click on any of the Zavvi/Sendit/Amazon e-mails I have received over the past couple of weeks to check out the bargains!!
As far as I understand things, Partington as we know it is no more. The stands they are known for are no longer going to be made in the UK by a UK work force. In store, Frank, Kevin, and myself like to do our part for the British economy and support UK businesses, especially where speaker and equipment stands are concerned. If other companies did this, Partington would still be as they were.
I hope this helps.
