Thanks David. AKG is the least represented of the main brands. Is there a reason for that?

I may be heading back to the CI shortly, so I have a quick question for David: Do you ship to the Channel Islands, and are you able to offer VAT-free shopping?

Yes, and yes Smile

Ah, good show! Thanks for the speedy reply Smile

I can confirm they do to both. My Spendor A5's were dispatched on the same day as ordering and were with me 36 hours later! David was also happy to answer queries about set up etc. after I had received them - proving they care and are not just interested in the quick sale! Also they were some £400 cheaper than I could have picked them up in Guernsey!

That's great to know. I really admire any retailer who goes the extra mile, even more so if they deliver to the C.I. VAT-free Smile

The Spendors are lovely speakers, I hope you're enjoying them.

Sorry idc, I didn't see your question. I remember they were everywhere in the 80's, and remember seeing them in Laskys in Brum city centre along with Sennheiser, Koss, Pioneer etc. I don't even know who distributes them nowadays, so not sure what they're up to. It could be that the distributor only deals with a small amount of retailers (unlikely though), or it could be that they're not a particularly good distributor if very few of their retail outlets actually keep them.

Do you see the red "start new topic" button near the top of the screen when you choose a section?

Re: Frank Harvey Hi-Fi Excellence

What a gorgeous shop in Coventry.

Following advice here from Frank I bought a Yamaha 2065. Great advice since my system now really sounds so much better.

Email  & shop offers excellent service. Demo rooms are excellent.

This will be my first point of call in the future.

Oh ... and bye the way Frank .... Can you help me with .....

Thanks to all.

Rob

Re: Frank Harvey Hi-Fi Excellence

Called in this morning to buy an iPod dock system. Said what budget I had, definitely at the bottom end of what was on show, and the staff were really helpful. Showed me which systems they had at that price range, and then left me alone to listen to some music from my iPod to make my decision. In the end, I bought a Zeppelin Mini as it sounded more detailed than the Bose sounddock and also looked like a more quality product.

I thought the Bose was very cheap looking compared to the B&W.

After deciding, went for a browse round the store, lots of really nice stuff in there, particularly blown away by the sound from the Monitor Audio set up in the demo room on the 1st floor. Even with the volume down, you could hear every detail in the soundtrack being played. Just wish I could ever afford a surround set up like that....

Would definitely recommend them to friends if they were after anything and I'll be back when I can scrape some more money together.
