Re: Frank Harvey Hi-Fi Excellence

Scowl,

I'm pleased to hear that the service quality at this store has improved. I bought a lot of kit there several years ago and was NOT impressed with their service, to the point that I had excluded them from the short list of suppliers I proposed to invite to replace and upgrade my current installation, even though they are not too far away from me.

Thanks for this info - maybe I'll do a bit of 'secret shopping'  Wink

Yes, just one post here, but that does not devalue what I have to say, nor my acceptance that your service has probably (hopefully) improved since I was disappointed when I purchased from you.

True, but I'm always wary of first time posters, I'm sure you understand.

How long has it been? I've been there for just over 4 years now, and I know I haven't dealt with you! It is impossible to please everyone, there will always be a few people that won't be happy with you, for whatever reason.

Other than a couple of guys on the internet side, I'm the last to join Frank Harvey, and the other two guys on the shop floor have been there much longer than myself. I know there were one or two who used to work for us that weren't up to standard, but they've long gone now.

Feel free to get in touch as I can check who it was on the system, and hopefully put your mind at rest!

I have emailed David on a few occasions for advice and have found his recommendations invaluable

He is one of only a handful of dealers who give advice on WHF and other forums , sometimes very late in the evening which to me is above and beyond the call of duty

I was offered the Dem room for a day to audition equipment I was interested in

My only regret is living so far away from Frank Harvey's and being unable to visit the store to take up the kind offer

I am sure we all have visited shops and felt differently with the service depending on our own frame of mind

Don't know how many times I have shopped and met "pushy Salesmen" who pounce as soon as you enter , when you just want to browse

Or gone into a Shop and felt ignored because on this occasion you were after something specific and needed advice.

I have left stores in disgusts in both scenarios

But it was my frame of mind that was in fault

EDITED BY MODS to clarify what is quote and what your comments, hopefully correctly

Have you got the B&W 685 speaker package to demo with a pioneer amp?

Thanks

We do the SCLX82 in store - we tend to find the Yamaha, Onkyo and Denon amplifiers are more popular below the £1k mark.

Thank you Hems!

And thank you lesmor for your (extensive) thoughts Smile. Not sure what the mods editing was about though - can you elaborate?

Not supposed to discuss moderation but as it was nothing sinister hopefully it will be ok.

It was just that I typed in the wrong position within the quote

Don't suppose you could open up a store in Guernsey? We could do with a decent hi-fi shop here!Big Smile

Re: Frank Harvey Hi-Fi Excellence

We've had customers asking us to open stores in many places, including Scotland, the UK's south coast, Ireland, various parts of Europe and especially, Australia! That would be a bit of a logistical nightmare regarding central stockholding, so we'll probably stick to our current location Smile

(Although, if Frank would like to open one in Australia or the US, I'm there!!)

It's quite tropical over here. Just over 2 degrees, no snow lying and sunny periods at the moment.

Re: Frank Harvey Hi-Fi Excellence

Hmmmm.... bob.g comes on for 2 posts to voice his disappointment then doesn't post for over 2 weeks - that was predictable. Plus my invite wasn't accepted or even commented on - I think we can strike that one from this thread.....any genuine customers with any concerns?

Re: Frank Harvey Hi-Fi Excellence

David,

I only post on any forum of which I am a member when I believe what have to say adds value. It is a fact that I did experience poor customer service at your store some years ago but, by the law of averages, sometimes there will be dissatisfied customers. I felt I was being positive by noting from the posts here that current opinion of FH HiFi was very good, and as a result of that I would be happy to shop there again. I haven't contacted you yet because I am not yet ready to upgrade my system.

However I am a little concerned that a post on this thread which is construed by a member of staff from FH HiFi to be negative should be recommended to be struck from the thread. I am a genuine customer and I did have a genuine concern - and I don't feel that your comment about striking my post helps allay those concerns.
