Frank Harvey, Coventry
I visited Frank Harvey in Coventry today, wanted to listen to Naim Uniti. The guys were not friendly at all! They very bluntly told me they were out of stock (also boasting that the system is in high demand). They didnt even bother asking if there was anything else they could help me with, didnt tell me when would they have one in. I didnt even spend 2 minutes (by watch) in their shop. I am sorry to say but I would never go there again. Was very disappointed!!
Just before this I had been to B&O in Leamington Spa, and the Manager there was on the other end of the spectrum. He was very friendly, polite, not rushed and above all, took interest in his job! I auditioned Beocenter 3200 with Beolab 6000 and compared it with a few other B&O systems in the shop, and liked it. I dont know the Naim might sound, but I just might go for B&O purely because of their service.
tarunzbak,
I was also in the B&O shop in Leamington Spa a couple of days ago, looking at TVs and looking for the new 'tulip' sub (not in stock yet) and the guys there were just falling over themselves to help me - especially as I already have some B&O stuff.
I fully understand where you are coming from on this.
i guess if they didnt have what you were looking for , all they could do was say so ?
if there was another option you were considering , you could have asked ? or asked if there was anything comparable ?
if they started to suggest alternatives , would you have felt they were just trying to sell you something you didnt want ?

Well, you spoke to me first, and you got the same treatment as everyone else - you're the first to complain.tarunzbak:I visited Frank Harvey in Coventry today, wanted to listen to Naim Uniti. The guys were not friendly at all!
I seem to remember it going something like this: you asked if we had one, I said yes, and you then asked if you could hear it. I then said it was on the top floor, at which point I remembered Kevin had sold our demo one off a while ago because we couldn't get any, as a customer desperately wanted one. I then turned to Kevin and asked him to confirm if we'd sold our demo one off (just in case one had come back into stock in the meantime), at which point Kevin took over the conversation and confirmed this to be true. They very bluntly told me they were out of stock (also boasting that the system is in high demand).
Seeing as all we had as an alternative to the Uniti was an Arcam Solo, we didn't really think there would be much we could tempt you with, not without making it sound like we're desperate by trying to sell you something totally different. Kevin explained to you that the Uniti's were in high demand and that we had them on order, and that it would be about 2-3 wks before we get our demo one in back in store and up and running. They didnt even bother asking if there was anything else they could help me with, didnt tell me when would they have one in. I didnt even spend 2 minutes (by watch) in their shop.
With myself and Kevin being the main two guys who look after the store, I think if we had no interest in our jobs, or the customer for that matter, we wouldn't have had our most successful year last year, and we wouldn't still be trading either.Just before this I had been to B&O in Leamington Spa, and the Manager there was on the other end of the spectrum. Please feel free to take issue with any point that I have made.
Regards
David
Been in ther myself, and they were cool with me having a look around. Nice and friendly, so no issues there.
Just had a look at posting history and you had already eliminated Beosound .Normally at busy(popular/well liked) Hifi stores you need to book a demo and announce your visit if you want a serious demo. The fact you got so much attention in Leamington(if unannounced) means you hit a quiet spot by fortune and moved on to a busy one. That's life- no need to try denouncing one company against another due to (possibly) lack of planning on your part.
RGD, good point. I pop into B&O in Leamington Spa quite often, as my optician is just a few doors away, and they do certainly seem to be very quiet lately.
and , if your optition was not up to scratch , you would probably be popping into b and o more frequentlybob.g:RGD, good point. I pop into B&O in Leamington Spa quite often, as my optician is just a few doors away, and they do certainly seem to be very quiet lately.
I think you need your optician Max, the correct spelling was just above your post.![]()

maxflinn,
Your point is understood, but I do happen to like the design of B&O equipment, especially the older stuff. However recently they do seem to have become very expensive and to have lost the design finesse that they used to have. For example my Beocenter 9000 is exquisite and although quite old now still (IMHO) looks and delivers perfectly.

I sense a right to reply winging its way.
Definitely not the reception I got on my first visit which was only 4 weeks ago.
