Comet - Nationwide Closure
So...
After 73 years, the curtain is finally falling on Comet today
Some might say a sad demise, others might say this has been a long time coming...
Whichever camp you are in, spare a thought for 6,600 people who have lost their jobs a week before Christmas
It's all the debt they have to repay, even if they close all the loss making stores. There was no way they could do that, except going into administration.
Seems that most Currys stores are merging with PC World, which I guess is a sign of the times, and also a huge weight off DSG's bottom line in terms of rent etc
So what's the future? online retailing only?

Just out of curiosity does anybody know how well woolworths.co.uk are doing. i get regular e-mails off them although i have never shopped with them, i wish then all the best btw.
Hahaha  loving it, i just typed comet into google & at the very top of the page is "Great deals at curry's", nothing like promoting one's self at another's demise.
The whole thing is a terrible waste, my thoughts are with the staff.
I may well be wrong... but THIS is what happens to companies in which the public eventualy realise are charging way to much and as such decide to buy elsewhere...... then the company which is charging too much.... goes under ?
If true, then sad as it is .... I have no sympathy for them.

I've noticed near where i live that curry's are closing their shops & moving in with pc world, what i can't understand with comet is why not close the stores that are making a loss & keep the stores open that are making a profit, greedy/lazy or just bad manegment imo.
