I am trying to buy a particular CD and the only retailer that I can find that stocks it is on-line and called CDMARKET.EU

I have never dealt with these (or heard of them) before - has anyone else?

They have a professional looking web site - but are based in Estonia.

I thought I'd just do some research before giving them my card number!!

No experience of this company, but I think I'd at least play it safe and set up a Paypal account to avoid credit card details being exposed.

Good advice Andrew.

I've never really got in to using Paypal other than making occasional purchases on ebay. This is a good opportunity.

Re: CDMARKET.EU

I couldn't agree less.In my opinion Paypal are an absolutely apalling company and should not be confused in any way with a bank. Before you open an account with them check out the paypalsucks.com site and read some of the horror stories from their customers. I was ripped off by a seller for £250 for a load of dvds he never sent, but paypal refused to refund my money despite the police becoming involved - the last I heard he was wanted for theft and assault - in the end I got £125 refunded by ebay. Why wouldn't paypal refund me?Because on a dropdown menu I clicked on "goods never sent" but unnoticed by me the cursor moved up (rather conveniently for paypal) to another reason. Can't  remember which now, but it was something thast paypal don't pay out on.Because I'd done that they refused a refund, refused to discuss it and refused to allow me to make another claim. This was like losing your money at the bank because you inadvertently ticked the wrong box and then weren't allowed to correct your mistake.

As for it protecting your credit card details;. According to PayPal accepting their ToS (Terms of Service) in effect means you waive your rights to credit card consumer protection laws if you want to use their service, and that you may not issue a chargeback for unauthorized use of your credit card and PayPal account, or if you do, then they have the right to limit your account.

Re: CDMARKET.EU

Well, although I am sorry to hear of your unfortunate experience, my advice was based on the fact that I have been using PayPal extensively for some years for purchases, and always found the operation to be extremely reliable, and swift to solve any problems arising from refunds and the like.

But then I guess I am overcautious when it comes to checking what I am clicking before I click it.

Glad your experience has been positive.I have to say though, that any organisation that generates as many anti-sites as paypal has must be doing something wrong.I understand that it deals with millions of customers (likewise amazon, natwest, etc) but if only 5% of them have been

EDITED BY MODS for unsuitable language

by paypal that's an awful lot of unhappy people, possibly millions worldwide, who appear to have very little recourse, because paypal holds all the cards.

On a related subject I would also advise people never to deposit money with their bank without getting a receipt.

You mean all those years we've been simply bunging envelopes full of cash through the banks' letterboxes we've been taking a terrible risk? Huh?

Remember Paypal is owned by eBay anyway so a refund from either is one and the same.

Never had any problems, fingers crossed. Smile

No, just marvelling at the thought of anyone depositing sums of money anywhere without getting a receipt.

And I don't read the Times since the paywall went in.

Re: CDMARKET.EU

It's all the rage, apparently, for convenience's sake (the banks,so they can get rid of more counter staff).

We buy the Times on Saturdays because my wife likes the telly (sorry, arts) guide.

Re: CDMARKET.EU

Placed my order with the supplier 2 weeks ago, paying with Paypal, and received an e-mail confirming my order. Subsequently received a full refund from Paypal yesterday, and the CDMARKET website now states the cd I ordered as being unavailable.

So a satisfactory outcome apart from being unable to buy the cd I wanted. If anyone has any suggestions on where I can buy Roadkill by Bubba Mac Blues Band please let me know....

Twice I was out of pocket over computers which I had bought costing over £250.00 and on b oth occassions was paid promptly the full amounts....  Party!!!

Every time I have used them and it is   many  they seem great to deal with imo... maybe you have been unlucky.

Re: CDMARKET.EU

Just to clarify - I have no complaints with Paypal - it seems that CDMARKET were advertising this cd when they did not have it in stock.

I was concerned in my OP about giving my credit card details to an internet company based in Estonia  - using Paypal has prevented this from happening. Now if I could just find someone selling that cd   Crying
