Widely predicted, now official.

I know they weren't a wide-ranging CD/DVD seller, but that soon may be another place on the UK High Street you can't browse. Another place not selling magazines, either...

Looks like HMV have a virtual monopoly on the High street now with music and movies as W H Smiths seem to be slowly moving out of that market.

In a year thats Woolworth,Zavvi and possibly now Borders gone.

They closed down here in Dublin about 2 months ago, they had to lock people out of the store due to the huge queue's, all getting the stuff at 50-75% discount......

Great shop for mags and books, however i always found their  cd/blu-rays quite expensive...............

Shame. I quite liked Borders stores. It's never a good time to be losing one's job, but so close to Xmas it really ain't nice, feeling sorry for all those Borders employees.

Note for overseas readers too lazy to click: that's Borders in the UK, not worldwide.

I understood that the Entertainment division including DVD/Video was still ok and that only the book division was under threat/going down.

See here- unless this is one of those misleading BBC articles.
