It's not really a complaint, or praise, but I went to the Apple Store in Glasgow last week because I had a particular question about the Airport Express, and I thought I would at least get the correct answer in there. I wanted to know if I could stream music from my Apple TV to the Airport Express without having the computer on, as I often go days without switching it on. The "Genius" in the shop said no. I had to have my computer on and iTunes on. So I didn't get it.

But I did a bit more reading during the week, and some people on other forums seemed to be suggesting that you could do it. So I took a punt and bought one. Set it up over the weekend, and sure enough, you could do exactly what I wanted. There's an option in the Apple TV specially for setting it up like that. I was quite surprised that the Apple Store people got it wrong.

Why were you surprised? Most people who work in shops get minimal training and are paid peanuts. Apart from John Lewis and Hifi specialists, you are unlikely to get any sense..

I'm not surprised that the Apple Store people got it wrong, because that sounds like new functionality to me - it didn't used to do that...

Perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised, but I just figured that of all the stores that sell apple products, surely the one whose staff might know the answer to a question about Apple products would be the Apple store, with their so called 'Geniuses'. I think it is fairly new (last 3 or 4 months I think, judging by what I read), but even so, you'd think they'd be told this.

Anyway, it does what I want anyway, so you live and learn - I will do my own research in future in trust that.
