I recently visited Sevenoaks in Bromley and they were extremely attentive, informative and helpful.  :cheer:

Sevenoaks is just a typical Franchise. I know the manager of one who's a sterling guy, but all he uses the brand name for is to help manage his accounting so he can just sell hifi.

with this in mind, each local store is really individual and attitudes and culture stem more from the managers than being called Sevenoaks. Another Sevenoaks in Holborn scoffed when i asked for a discount. The other manager knew i was a tight arse and was pragmatic and just gave me very very good discounts. To be fair, he did upsell me a lot so it worked both ways.

RE: Sevenoaks What a bunch off !!!!!

Went into a central London Sevenoaks on the weekend, interested in the Naim streamers, and with half a mind to buy one on the spot.  Said I thought the Uniti Lite was good, although I didn't need a CD player, and that the Superuniti may have been too much of an overkill.  Sales person said "guess Naim don't make anything for you then" and watched me listen to the Lite for a few minutes.

No wonder I primarily shop on the internet.

I was at sevenoaks on sat in Lincoln with money in my pocket looking for an upgrade but because my friend and i were dressed in shorts and t-shirts they turned there nose up at us . No hello , no can i help you , When i did ask for help it was pretty much the cold shoulder . The advise i got was short and not helpful in the slightest , it was almost like i was taking his time up because he obviously had other people to serve in an empty shop .

That was the first time i have been to sevenoaks in lincoln and the last

I bought bits & bobs fom both the Guildford & Reading branches including my current plasma. Had variable welcome from both branches. As a general comment, the English are incredibly class conscious so if your face or accent doesn't fit... I've had more sneering from Hi Fi shop personnel than from waiters!

I use Sevenoaks Southampton and I can say hand on heart that they are great at what they do

a couple of years ago I purchased a pioneer blu ray player and after eleven months of waiting for software patches   they changed it for me, I purchase all my equipment from them and I value their opinion

guess that's why I keep going back Smile :)

RE: Sevenoaks What a bunch off !!!!!

Again, it seems everyone's experience is different. I've had sterling service from Sevenoaks in Bristol, eg they knocked nearly £1,000 off when I bought my Denon BD player, Arcam receiver and Monitor Audio RX speakers. They even threw in some Wireworld Chroma HDMI cables.

Was down there yesterday with a friend wanting to buy his first decent AV system. (I'd loaned him some spare kit, an old Sherwood AVR and Eltax Symphony speaker system.)  He ended up buying the Yamaha 675 receiver, Monitor Audio BX5s and BX Centre. Got a pretty good discount - there was a pair of BX5s on display with £100 off (so £399), the sales guy (I think he's the manager) said "there's another sealed pair the same finish out the back, you can have those for that price as we'll only have to unbox them and put them there if you buy those ones".

They didn't have the BX Centre in walnut to match the fronts, only in black. The chap just said "if you want it in walnut we can order it in by Tuesday, but if you're happy with it in black you can have that one for £120" (so £30 off). Needless to say my friend bought the black one.  Also did 6 metres of Audioquest 14/4 speaker cable for half price.

They didn't have the RXFXs in stock, but have said when he wants them they'll do a discount on those as if he'd bought them all at once - "just give us a ring and we'll get them ordered in for you in whatever finish you want".

Needless to say, my friend is delighted. So well done to Sevenoaks Bristol, yet again.
