Richer Sounds overload!
English

I signed up to Richer Sounds VIP club a few months back to keep an eye-out for any bargains they might have - and I got an email every 5-6 days or so. A little over-frequent (i.e. borderline nuisance) but bearable.

In the last month they really upped the ante! Has anyone else noticed? In the last month I've had 14 emails from them! I know it's the Christmas/January Sales window, but still - it's incredibly annoying. I know I've had a bit of a rant about invasive marketing emails before (particularly the "you must opt out" (rather than opt-in) ones), but I wonder do organisations realise that they need to strike a balance? An email isn't the same as TV adverts - i.e. you expect the TV/radio to blare out adverts every 15 minutes - your email inbox is a bit more of an intrusion. Marketing should be tailored and used sensibly/sparingly to maximise impact/minimise pester. I've now unsubscribed from all of their marketing emails, but wonder if other forumites have been similarly deluged.

Like you say it's the Christmas/January sales window, a lot of retailers are doing different deals every day which they need to publicise.

This is why I use a hotmail account for signing up to that sort of thing, I don't care how much spam it gets.

likewise with gmail which I only check once a day or so, but it's my "main" (i.e. only) personal email account.  I can bear a certain amount of guff, but only so much!

I have an account for dealing with marketing stuff - currently 3,500 unread emails! It does all go a bit ballistic around Christmas. I actually find Amazon one of the worst offenders - 1-2 emails A DAY!

Richers have increased their emails over the last month along with everyone else. As someone else has remarked they are not the worst offender by any means.

I just dump any email I don't want to read, don't really find them a problem.

Right click, this is spam... then check your spam from time to time.
