Beware Superfi - missing and damaged goods twice!

Having placed two orders with Superfi, I have never been so disgusted with any shop or service in my life. The first order, a pair of speakers and a box of cabling was lost, and only dumped on my neighbours over a week later with no response from superfi or the courier.

Having just come back from the courier depot to collect a set of atacama speaker stands and atabites, I got home to find the atabites tub smashed and all of the filling loose in the cardboard box (which had holes in), and one of the main poles missing from the speakers.

Whilst this may only be the courier at fault, as they are the only company used by Superfi, I say beware anyone who orders valuable goods from Superfi and expects it to arrive in good condition, if at all...

So did you lodge a complaint with either the courier company or retailer, and did they offer to put things right?

I've only ever had two problems ordering from Superfi:

1. The credit card bill at the end of each month

2. "Working from home" to await delivery.

Everything else has been flawless, in my experience.

Complaints were logged with both companies after the first issue, neither ever responded. The courier company customer service even promise a call back Saturday week ago, which never came. I am still awaiting response on the 2nd issue, if they come back in a reasonable timescale I will be fair enough to reflect that on here.

Not wanting to get involved with a slanging match but I ordered a Sony BDP360 player from this Company last year. When it arrived the loading door mechanism stopped working after three uses. I sent it back to Superfi with all the documents and the RC unit. Five weeks later, the player was returned minus the RC controller which they insisted I had not returned to them - I am not a remote controller kleptomaniac!

I'm sure that this Company must send thousands of items every year and that there are bound to be a few issues with courier companies and order fulfillment but I for one will not use them again.

Superfi can't be guilty for what the couriers do (though how they handle the complaint is key).

To me it's just sad that people spend so much on hifi via mail order, without ever auditioning it first!

For a hobby/passion based on how things sound, it seems absurd to me to me to order without listening.

Anyone recommending mail ordering is surely either just not that critical, doesn't know their own mind or plain lazy.

Is it not plausible or even possible that one can audition items at another retail outlet before buying online at a cheaper rate?

Yes it is possible  but  of questionable ethics in my view. Don't expect the same shop to fall for that trick twice Sad

Possible, yes; entirely unethical, definitely.

Seems strange that you arrive on the forum just to slaughter a well known company? I also think that your gripe should be with the courier company first and foremost. And finally, I would be astonished if Superfi did not attempt to deal with your issues.

Nothing gives you a slap in the face like spending an hour with a customer, and then they come back a day later to brag about how cheap they got their kit for.  Next time you do that, try thinking about the commission the individual, not the shop lost in that hour.  Mayby you want to walk upstairs to the kitchen and steal the poor guys lunch whilst your at it?

(now't personal, but was one of my all time favourite rants when I used to work in retail)

...And more to the point for the selfish consumer, imagine the inconvenience if next time you want to pull such a stunt the retailer is no longer there to provide the free audition, as too many people have done the same thing.

And one of the major gripes a lot of "traditional" retailers have, is that online retailers' business model relies on the consumer being able to go and look at real world shops to see what the goods are like... And to compound things, often the online shop doesn't have to include various local taxes (like VAT) - hence why Amazon can ship CDs and DVDs from Jersey and guarantee to undercut the high street.

When there are no high street shops selling a particular item - like CDs, or DVDs, or books (which seems to be the way it is going) - it will be interesting to see how the online business model stacks up...

I think people are being a bit unfair on the OP here, although I do agree that his gripe seems to be with the courier rather than Superfi.

I don't believe there's anything in the original post that suggests he auditioned the kit in a shop and then bought online.

That isn't who those comments are aimed at, are they amarocknrollstar?
