Tesco Hudl - bargain 7" tablet
English

Picked up the new Tesco Hudl on Thursday.

It runs very slightly laggier than our Nexus 7 (due to only 1Gb of RAM) and the screen isn't quite as white or contrasty but I'm not sure I would notice any of that if I hadn't used a Nexus 7 already.

The big deal though is the price - although the papers all report it as £120 or just £60 with Tesco vouchers it is actually priced at £119 which means with vouchers it cost £64.  But because you have to convert vouchers in £5 multiples and cannot spend more with vouchers than the item this means £55 of vouchers and £9 in cash.

Don't make my mistake and convert £60 of vouchers as the last £5 one is worthless.  Still can't quibble about spending £9 of real cash for a good 7" tablet.

I'm still waiting for one of

I'm still waiting for one of the display units (in the three Tescos I've seen them in) to actually work before deciding whether to get one.

Mine has worked perfectly when I did a reset after first charging it (with a paperclip via the hole in the back).

For an e-reader, internet device & remote controller for various items in the house it's brilliant.

Due to the lack of RAM I'm just being choosy which apps I install (not bothering with a virus scanner for instance).

I've recently loaded the Kitkat 4.4 Google launcher and it works fine.  Don't think I'll be reading many more paper based books now.
