At CES, Asus has announced the Asus Memo370T which will blow open the tablet market.

For $249 (£160) the specs are

- 7'' 1280x800 IPS display

- Quadcore 1.3Ghz Tegra3 Processor

- 1GB Ram

- 16/32GB internal storage

- Android 4 (ICS)

- 8MP camera

This tablet will make the Kindle Fire, Ipad2, Galaxy Tab and every other tablet suddenly look overpriced and outdated.

They also showed off a 10.1'' quad-core tablet with 1920x1200 resolution. Last years tablets are going to be outdated pretty fast.

RE: Quadcore 7" tablet with ICS For £160

The number of new tablets out this year will be bewlidering, and will likely cause quite a lot of confusion for some consumers, especially the various different flavours of Andriod. Apple are rumoured to be bringing out the iPad 3 in March / April time, but the other rumour is the iPad 2 will continue to be sold at a lower price threshold to compete with the lower end of the market too. Whether this is true or not is a different story - I'd certainly take it with a pinch of salt for the moment.

Also, look forward to the mainstream adoption of the "Ultra book" as a replacement to the now defunct netbook - think Apple's Macbook Air but cheaper and with Windows installed. Again, every man and his dog will be bringing one of these out at various price points and it's these (along with tablets) which will dominate the PC market in the years to come.

At the end of the day, this is leading to great news for the consumer, as competition leads to better products and lower prices - great news whether you're an OS X, iOS, Android or Windows 8 fan.
